NEWS RELEASE Ripon’s Dickens of a Christmas 2020 Event features Bah Humbug Ripon, Wis. – Ripon’s Annual Dickens of a Christmas event which was to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year has been forced to make changes to the layout of the weekend due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. The Ripon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has unfortunately concluded that two of the large community gathering events during the weekend are unable to be held. The Dickens Holiday Parade and Living Windows events have been removed from the lineup of Dickens of a Christmas for the year 2020. Ripon Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jason Mansmith said “we are incredibly saddened that these two events are unable to occur in 2020 due to the current COVID-19 situation in Wisconsin, however in the best interest to protect the health of the community this difficult decision has been made.” The Dickens of a Christmas event for 2020 will still feature limited events that have been transferred to an online format, drive-thru events, and other highlights which will be announced in the near future. Mansmith also said, “this event is more than just another event for Ripon; Dickens weekend is a memory-filled weekend of community, cheer, and sparkle, and we are heartbroken that some of the traditional events during the weekend cannot be safely held.” The Ripon Chamber of Commerce plans the Dickens of a Christmas weekend year-round and is currently seeking committee members to help in planning. A chance for kids of all ages to see Santa Claus this year right in their neighborhood safely. Starting Saturday December 5, and continuing on December 6, December 12, December, 13, and December 19 Santa will be touring the city with his friends from the Ripon Area Fire District. Santa on Tour Schedule: December 5 Wards 1 & 7 from 10am-12pm The Santa on Tour event will make every attempt to visit each street in the city of Ripon. All tour dates are dependent on weather and fire district emergencies. A make up date of Sunday December 20 has been set in case it is needed. Participants submit photos and/or videos of their homes adorned with their cheeriest holiday decor, and community members get to vote on their favorite festive spaces. NEWS RELEASE Ripon’s Dickens of a Christmas 2020 Event features Bah Humbug Ripon, Wis. – Ripon’s Annual Dickens of a Christmas event which was to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year has been forced to make changes to the layout of the weekend due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. The Ripon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has unfortunately concluded that two of the large community gathering events during the weekend are unable to be held. The Dickens Holiday Parade and Living Windows events have been removed from the lineup of Dickens of a Christmas for the year 2020. Ripon Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jason Mansmith said “we are incredibly saddened that these two events are unable to occur in 2020 due to the current COVID-19 situation in Wisconsin, however in the best interest to protect the health of the community this difficult decision has been made.” The Dickens of a Christmas event for 2020 will still feature limited events that have been transferred to an online format, drive-thru events, and other highlights which will be announced in the near future. Mansmith also said, “this event is more than just another event for Ripon; Dickens weekend is a memory-filled weekend of community, cheer, and sparkle, and we are heartbroken that some of the traditional events during the weekend cannot be safely held.” The Ripon Chamber of Commerce plans the Dickens of a Christmas weekend year-round and is currently seeking committee members to help in planning.
