Sbowe performance at Thrasher Opera House

    19:30 -22:00
    December 8, 2022
    PRESS RELEASE
    Contact:  Jason Mansmith

Green Lake, Wis. (November 14, 2022) – Sbowe is the solo project of Rachel Icenogle, a versatile cellist and composer based in Calabria, Italy, with a mind for new and interesting sounds. Sbowe thrives in the scratchy, creaky, whirly sounds the cello can make, layering diverse musical textures in a lush groundwork for wild fables about insects and impressionistic stories about human batteries. In November 2022, Sbowe released a new EP called Morimus.  “…the two tracks here create massive, textural, exquisite movements that feel poetic as they feel intentional. It’s like we’re observing both the gorgeous and tense moments of nature unfold in real time, punctuated by a variety of cello sounds. Calm meets the storm with Sbowe’s Morimus.”

-Ben Slowey, Breaking & Entering Milwaukee

The 2022 Fall/Winter Season at Thrasher Opera House is sponsored by Better Homes and Garden Real Estate Special Properties. This event is supported in part by a grant from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band Returns to Thrasher Opera House

Green Lake, Wis. (November 14, 2022) – Thrasher favorites Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band will return to play the historic Thrasher Opera House on Friday, December 09 at 7:30 p.m. Three-time BMA nominee’s The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band are “the greatest front-porch blues band in the world”.

They are led by Reverend Peyton, who most consider being the premier finger picker playing today. He has earned a reputation as both a singularly compelling performer and a persuasive evangelist for the rootsy, country blues styles that captured his imagination early in life and inspired him and his band to make pilgrimages to Clarksdale, Mississippi to study under such blues masters as T-Model Ford, Robert Belfour, and David “Honeyboy” Edwards. Their latest record Dance Songs For Hard Times went #1 on the Billboard, iTunes, and Sirius XM Blues Charts and was produced by Grammy winner Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton). The record is critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Relix, Popmatters, Guitar World, American Songwriter, No Depression, Glide, Wide Open Country, Paste, American Blues Scene, and many more.
