Photographer David Anderson is Thrasher’s Featured Artist Through December
Green Lake, Wis. (November 2, 2022) – David Anderson’s passion for photography started quite by accident. During a family gathering around Thanksgiving, he removed a roll of 120 film from his uncle’s camera. Why wait? He wanted to see the photos. There were no pictures, just yellow and black paper with a strip of undeveloped negative. After a long lecture, he was sent to his room. This wasn’t over; at Christmas a box from Sears, Roebuck & Co. appeared. It was a darkroom in a box. Everything was included: camera, film, small enlarger, trays, safe light, chemicals, and print paper. Most importantly, there was an instruction booklet. The love for photography and creating images began when David shot, developed, and printed his first photos before he was ten years old.
Fast forward. After spending his career working for marketing companies, commercial printers and graphic artists he found his way home to his photography roots. In 2012 Anderson Photo Group was conceived to create headshots, individual and family portraits, and offer consulting for other photographers. Daily, Anderson Photo Group creates headshots for professional business including financial planers, lawyers, accounting firms, physicians, veterinarians, and even individuals who want their social media profiles to look awesome. Individual and family portraits are regularly on the schedule and 4 to 6 hours each week are devoted to consulting on Lightroom, Photoshop and general photography including beginner to advanced topics.
The exhibit will be displayed at the Thrasher Gallery until December 31. The Thrasher gallery is at 510 Mill St., Green Lake, WI, 54941. The gallery is open to the public on weekdays from 10 a.m. – to 4 p.m. and is accessible to concert patrons on event nights.
If you are a visual artist and would like to be considered for an exhibit at the Thrasher gallery, please get in touch with our office at info@thrasheroperahouse.com or by calling 920.294.4279, Thrasher Opera House’s mission is to promote the arts and the power of live performance, provide a community gathering place, and preserve the historic Thrasher Opera House. She Kills Monsters tells the story of high schooler Agnes Evans as she deals with the death of her younger sister, Tilly. When Agnes stumbles upon Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and ’90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

Wisconsin’s Them Coulee Boys to Play at Thrasher Opera House
Green Lake, Wis. (October 17, 2022) – Eau Claire, Wisconsin’s Them Coulee Boys, will play the historic Thrasher Opera House on Saturday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m. Soren Staff and Beau Janke—co-founders of folk/rock/Americana outfit Them Coulee Boys met as counselors at a bible camp in northern Wisconsin. Having grown up amidst a stretch of glacial melt-carved river valleys in the upper Midwest, known by French fur trappers as coulees, they became fast friends. Camp counselors coined the name “them coulee boys” to refer to the constant companions, often with instruments in hand. Soren’s little brother Jens joined the crew on mandolin at camp in 2012, and since, both Neil Krause on bass and Staš Hable on drums have helped to grow the band into the rollicking outfit it is today. 2021 marked the release of their fourth record, Namesake, a ten-song collection that spans from pure and genuine ballads to a leaping, countrified take on rock and roll. Singles from the recording have premiered via The Bluegrass Situation, Ditty TV, and Live for Live. Twangville readers dubbed the record “Best New Release.”
Tickets for Them Coulee Boys on November 5 at 7:30 p.m. are $23 and are available at www.thrasheroperahouse.com or by calling 920.294.4279

Black Hawk Folk Society proudly presents Crystal River Trio in concert Saturday, November 12. The trio will take the Mountain View Community Center stage at 7 p.m. Once they do, be ready to enjoy an evening of Irish ballads, sea shanties, folk, oldies, and more all woven together with humor, trivia and random facts, and maybe a reply to a comment or request from the audience!
Gary Arndt, Peter Bartman, and Jay Smuddle make up the trio and have been performing together for thirty plus years. These self-taught musicians have mastered a dozen or more acoustic instruments, and have shared stages with Judy Collins, The Kingston Trio, and other talented musicians. Their performances bring joy to folk festivals–large and small, coffee houses and pubs, as well as house concerts.
Gary Arndt co-founded the trio in 1981, inspired by the Clancy Brothers, The Kingston Trio, and Peter, Paul, and Mary. That kind of music “is and always will be a very important and driving force” for us on and off the stage, Arndt has observed. Music continues to inspire the threesome, while they are strongly bonded by their friendship. For more information about Crystal River Trio, please visit crystalrivertrio.com.
Mountain View Community Center is located at N3137 21st Lane, just off Highway 152, south of Mt. Morris. General admission tickets will be sold at the door (adults: $10; 12 and under: free) beginning at 6:30.

And yes, they take requests from the audience! Fun fact, their name is inspired by the beautiful Crystal River that flows through Waupaca. Check them out at crystalrivertrio.com.

Harmonious Wail Returns to Play Thrasher Opera House
Green Lake, Wis. (October 31, 2022) – Thrasher Opera House veterans Harmonious Wail will return to play on Friday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. The members of Harmonious Wail are purveyors of Americana-infused Gypsy Jazz, who continue to take their listeners on a ride via the music of the Hot Club sounds of Parisian cafes, to the deepest blues of the Memphis Delta, to the heartfelt folk scenes across every-town-America. This harmonious clique is sublime entertainers, great educators, and lifters of spirits.
Harmonious Wail is a trio of multi-award-winning musicians. Sims Delaney-Potthoff, a mandolin virtuoso, and vocalist, Maggie Delaney-Potthoff, vocalist extraordinaire, whose percussive instrument of choice is a cardboard box (but who can also rock almost any household object), and Jeffo Weiss, a master bassist who dazzles and mesmerizes on both upright and electric 5-string bass.
As stewards of the Gypsy Jazz genre, they have established the Midwest Gypsy Swing Fest, held twice a year in Madison, Wisconsin. They also offer to take the fest on the road as a special concert package. They have mastered a plan on how to bring amazing Gypsy Jazz All-Stars from around the world and place them in front of concert audiences throughout the United States.

Steve’s Quality Painting and Condon Total Comfort sponsor the Harmonious Wail show.

Louis Clark III (Two Shoes) Author Meet and Greet In Celebration of Indigenous People’s Month Wednesday, November 30th at 5:30 pm Caramel Crisp Corner – 200 City Center, Suite D
On his Facebook page, Louis Clark describes himself this way: “I’m a Native American Poet/Storyteller, graying around the temples but still full of life and dreams.” “Born and raised on the Oneida Reservation in northeastern Wisconsin, Louis V. Clark III turned to poetry to continue the oral tradition of his people, the People of the Standing Stone. He is a member of the Iroquois Confederacy and of the Bear clan. His first chapbook, titled Two Shoes, was published in the spring of 2011 by the Sequoyah National Research Center at the University of Arkansas. His memoir How to Be an Indian in the 21st Century, published by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press, received the Midwest Booksellers Choice Award for 2017 and was recognized as a work of Outstanding Poetry by the Wisconsin Library Association. He received a Fellowship Award for his work from the Oneida Nation Arts Program and the Wisconsin Arts Board” (foxcitiesbookfestival.org). Louis has also published a second book, Rebel Poet, More Stories of a 21st Century Indian. In this eagerly anticipated follow-up to his first book, the author delves more deeply into the themes of family, community, grief, and the struggle to make a place in the world when your very identity is considered suspect. We are very blessed to have Louis living here in Wisconsin and even more excited that he has agreed to come and do an author “meet -and-greet” on Wednesday, November 30th at 5:30 pm at Caramel Crisp Corner! This event, sponsored by the Caramel Crisp Bookstore, is in recognition of Indigenous People’s month. Caramel Crisp Corner is located at 200 City Center Oshkosh, Suite D. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear the story of one of Oneida County’s indigenous residents, told in his own words.
