More than 300 brilliant “quilt blocks,” called barn quilts, are on display on barns throughout Shawano County. The Shawano County barn quilt project was started by local writer/photographer Jim Leuenberger in 2010 after he had seen barn quilts in Iowa, Kentucky, Oregon and southern Wisconsin. So in June 2010, he proposed the idea to local 4-H clubs for them to paint the quilts as a possible club service project. Since then several clubs, barn owners, businesses and individuals have supported the project through sponsoring a quilt and/or having a quilt put on their barn.Mr. Leuenberger, coordinator of Barn Quilts of Shawano County, will be at the library Nov. 11 to talk about the project.

TAE & The Neighborly at the 40th Anniversary Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Awards at Milwaukee’s very own Turner Hall Ballroom.
TAE & The Neighborly, will be at your McComb/Bruchs Performing Arts Center in Wautoma, WI on Saturday November 13th at 7:00 PM. This performance is co-sponsored by Martz Insurance, Culver’s of Wautoma and Farmers State Bank.
TAE & The Neighborly, a Ripon, WI based Soul-pop R&B group, found themselves playing music together in a very unconventional way. They were all neighbors, each one living alone on one floor of a five-story flat. Cake baking is a shared passion of the five member group, but in the sugar shortages early in the 2020 pandemic, they found themselves so continually knocking on each other’s doors asking for a single cup of sugar that a group decision was made to all move in together and share cake-baking resources. And since everyone knows all good rhythms begin in the kitchen, it wasn’t before long that the group began to write and perform together across the nation.
Critics hail the group as “having more kick than a bagged-up mule” (Rotary Times) and their live show “…going down smoother than a can of [beans] warmed on the campfire” (Cowboy Gazette). All in all, if you are looking for a dense show that will give you more inspiration fuel for self lovin’, world changin’, and consideration havin’ meet them where the music is made to be shared.
The band includes TAE, Kelvin Kaspar, Daniel Pingrey, David Blessent, and Andy Welsch.
TAE & The Neighborly had the opportunity to perform on Milwaukee’s very own Turner Hall Ballroom stage for the Wisconsin Area Music Industry’s (WAMI) 40th Awards Show on Sunday, October 17.
TAE was nominated for a Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Award for 2021 Female Vocalist of the Year.
When entering the venue, please follow all recommended CDC Guidelines.
Tickets, $15, to TAE & The Neighborly are available at the McComb/Bruchs Performing Arts Center located at 514 S. Cambridge St., Wautoma. Convenience fees will be applied for all credit card transactions. The box office is staffed two weeks before the performance, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., beginning Monday November 1st and four hours before the performance on Saturday November 13th. On top of being open two weeks before a performance, the box office will also be open on Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., throughout the season.
Tickets may also be ordered anytime by phone at (920) 787-2189 or toll-free at (888) 987-2189 or on our website at www.mccombbruchspac.com. Visa, Discover and MasterCard are accepted. Group and student discounts are available. For more information, follow us on Facebook or Instagram.
