    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Community Blood Center hosts blood drive at

the WWII Building sponsored by the Wautoma Kiwanis

    Whispering Pines and Rehabilitation

Healthy and eligible community members are encouraged to schedule a donation to help support the transfusion needs of patients.

Wautoma, Wis. (October 31st) – The Community Blood Center (CBC) is hosting a blood drive on Monday, October 31st from 10:00am – 5:00 p.m. at the WWII Building in Wautoma.

There is no substitute for transfused blood, so when a patient is facing cancer treatment, surgical procedures or the uncertainty of a traumatic injury, it’s volunteer donors who help ensure the blood needed is available.

“Blood donors are lifesavers. They selflessly give knowing their blood donation can make a difference in someone’s life, someone they will never meet,” said Kristine Belanger, Vice President, Operations and Chief Operating Officer. “This type of commitment to community and to helping others is powerful.”

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. To meet that need, about 35,000 blood donations are needed across the country every single day. CBC is the sole provider of all blood, platelets and plasma to nearly 30 hospitals throughout the Midwest.

This blood drive is open to the public. Healthy and eligible donors are encouraged to schedule a donation by calling 800-280-4102.

For more information visit communityblood.org .

    About The Community Blood Center

The Community Blood Center was established in 1955 and continues today as an independent nonprofit providing a safe and reliable blood supply to hospitals in the Midwest. CBC has donor centers in Wisconsin (Appleton, Oshkosh, Little Chute and Woodruff) and is opening a donor center in Chicago, Ill. in 2022. CBC hosts more than 100 blood drives every month. The Community Blood Center is a member of America’s Blood Centers (ABC) and Blood Centers of America (BCA) which are networks of independent community-based, not-for-profit blood centers supporting the blood needs for approximately 60% of the United States.

Photographer David Anderson is Thrasher’s Featured Artist Through December

    PRESS RELEASE

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASENovember 2, 2022

Photographer David Anderson is Thrasher’s Featured Artist Through December

Green Lake, Wis. (November 2, 2022) – David Anderson’s passion for photography started quite by accident. During a family gathering around Thanksgiving, he removed a roll of 120 film from his uncle’s camera. Why wait? He wanted to see the photos. There were no pictures, just yellow and black paper with a strip of undeveloped negative. After a long lecture, he was sent to his room. This wasn’t over; at Christmas a box from Sears, Roebuck & Co. appeared. It was a darkroom in a box. Everything was included: camera, film, small enlarger, trays, safe light, chemicals, and print paper. Most importantly, there was an instruction booklet. The love for photography and creating images began when David shot, developed, and printed his first photos before he was ten years old.

Fast forward. After spending his career working for marketing companies, commercial printers and graphic artists he found his way home to his photography roots. In 2012 Anderson Photo Group was conceived to create headshots, individual and family portraits, and offer consulting for other photographers. Daily, Anderson Photo Group creates headshots for professional business including financial planers, lawyers, accounting firms, physicians, veterinarians, and even individuals who want their social media profiles to look awesome. Individual and family portraits are regularly on the schedule and 4 to 6 hours each week are devoted to consulting on Lightroom, Photoshop and general photography including beginner to advanced topics.

The exhibit will be displayed at the Thrasher Gallery until December 31.  The Thrasher gallery is at 510 Mill St., Green Lake, WI, 54941. The gallery is open to the public on weekdays from 10 a.m. – to 4 p.m. and is accessible to concert patrons on event nights.

Wisconsin’s Them Coulee Boys to Play at Thrasher Opera House

Green Lake, Wis. (October 17, 2022) – Eau Claire, Wisconsin’s Them Coulee Boys, will play the historic Thrasher Opera House on Saturday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m. Soren Staff and Beau Janke—co-founders of folk/rock/Americana outfit Them Coulee Boys met as counselors at a bible camp in northern Wisconsin. Having grown up amidst a stretch of glacial melt-carved river valleys in the upper Midwest, known by French fur trappers as coulees, they became fast friends. Camp counselors coined the name “them coulee boys” to refer to the constant companions, often with instruments in hand. Soren’s little brother Jens joined the crew on mandolin at camp in 2012, and since, both Neil Krause on bass and Staš Hable on drums have helped to grow the band into the rollicking outfit it is today. 2021 marked the release of their fourth record, Namesake, a ten-song collection that spans from pure and genuine ballads to a leaping, countrified take on rock and roll. Singles from the recording have premiered via The Bluegrass Situation, Ditty TV, and Live for Live.  Twangville readers dubbed the record “Best New Release.”

Tickets for Them Coulee Boys on November 5 at 7:30 p.m. are $23 and are available at www.thrasheroperahouse.com or by calling 920.294.4279

The 2022 Fall Season at Thrasher Opera House is sponsored by Better Homes and Garden Real Estate Special Properties. Steve’s Quality Painting, Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Lake Street Marina, GEAR., and Outdoor Impact are sponsors of the show. This event is supported in part by a grant from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
