Gratitude Take and Make | Starting November 7 | All Ages Take and Make
Visit the checkout desk to pick up a gratitude craft take and make! This kit will provide supplies to make a bucket of gratitude! Available for all ages while supplies last.
Celebrate Kindness Lantern Walk | Saturday November 12 @ 5:30-7:00 PM | All Ages Event
Come, “Be the Light” at this outdoor celebration of community, kindness, and the human spirit!
Enjoy a campfire, cookies, warm beverages, a lantern-lit walk on the Northwest Trail, and an amazing glow-in-the-dark rock art project with artist Carissa Sorensen. (Many thanks to Integrity Lawn Service and Supply for donating the rocks!) Dress for the weather and bring your own chairs or blankets.
Get Ready! Beginning November 1 Carissa’s original “Be the Light” artwork will fill one window in the library’s front entry. Visitors are invited to post inspirational messages here before and during the event. This an opportunity to celebrate Ripon and the many people who make it great by working for and focusing on the good no matter how small the gesture.
Inclement Weather Plan Rain or a windchill factored temperature at or below 20 degrees Fahrenheit will force the event indoors. As the day approaches please check for updates on our website or social media platforms.

Registration and waiver signed by a parent or guardian is required. Participants may call the library at 920-748-6160 to register, and the required waiver must be filled out in-person at the front desk prior to participation.

Photographer David Anderson is Thrasher’s Featured Artist Through December
Green Lake, Wis. (November 2, 2022) – David Anderson’s passion for photography started quite by accident. During a family gathering around Thanksgiving, he removed a roll of 120 film from his uncle’s camera. Why wait? He wanted to see the photos. There were no pictures, just yellow and black paper with a strip of undeveloped negative. After a long lecture, he was sent to his room. This wasn’t over; at Christmas a box from Sears, Roebuck & Co. appeared. It was a darkroom in a box. Everything was included: camera, film, small enlarger, trays, safe light, chemicals, and print paper. Most importantly, there was an instruction booklet. The love for photography and creating images began when David shot, developed, and printed his first photos before he was ten years old.
Fast forward. After spending his career working for marketing companies, commercial printers and graphic artists he found his way home to his photography roots. In 2012 Anderson Photo Group was conceived to create headshots, individual and family portraits, and offer consulting for other photographers. Daily, Anderson Photo Group creates headshots for professional business including financial planers, lawyers, accounting firms, physicians, veterinarians, and even individuals who want their social media profiles to look awesome. Individual and family portraits are regularly on the schedule and 4 to 6 hours each week are devoted to consulting on Lightroom, Photoshop and general photography including beginner to advanced topics.
The exhibit will be displayed at the Thrasher Gallery until December 31. The Thrasher gallery is at 510 Mill St., Green Lake, WI, 54941. The gallery is open to the public on weekdays from 10 a.m. – to 4 p.m. and is accessible to concert patrons on event nights.

Thrasher to Participate in Cause of the Mondays at Vines & Rushes
Green Lake, Wis. (November 1, 2022) – Green Lake’s Thrasher Opera House will be participating in the Cause of the Mondays fundraiser at Vines & Rushes Winery on Monday, November 7, from 4-8 p.m. Thrasher Opera House is the only non-profit concert venue in Green Lake, WI. Thrasher brings talented performers from around our nation and the world to Green Lake and provides educational outreach to classrooms of students, Children’s Theater, an art gallery for local artists, and much more. 25% of food sales and any cash donations raised at Vines & Rushes from 4-8 pm on Monday, November 7, 2022, will go directly to Thrasher Opera House!

Return of the Aging Mastery Program®

The Waushara County Department of Aging in partnership with UW Extension is pleased to announce the return of the Aging Mastery Program®. The 6-week health and wellness workshop is free for adults 55 and over, and begins October 6th.
“This cutting edge, educational program is for adults who want to get as much information as they can from a variety of sources on a broad range of topics, before making decisions that are best for them as they age,” says Carolyn Schmidt, Programs Specialist for Waushara County. “Participants leave with actionable items every week that can help increase their well-being and help improve their overall outlook on aging.”
The goal of this program is to empower older adults to make and maintain small but impactful changes. The classes will explore navigating longer lives, physical activity, sleep, healthy eating and hydration, financial fitness, medication management, advanced planning, healthy relationships, falls prevention, and community engagement. Easy to follow educational materials developed from highly trusted sources are provided, a checklist of potential next steps, and a system for tracking behaviors. The program was developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA).
The workshop runs Thursdays from October 6th – November 10th, from 9:30 til 11:30 at the Waushara County Courthouse, Demonstration Room. Registration is required. Contact the Department of Aging for more information or to register for the program: (920) 787-0403.

Thousands of books have been donated recently and those in the Last Chance Room are priced at 50 cents and as low as 10 cents for children’s books. Featured displays include Star Trek, Edgar Allan Poe, beading and jewelry making, large print, and coffee table books, as well as jigsaw puzzles. Last Chance cookbooks are 5/$1 and paperbacks are a quarter. Expanded Showroom sections include military memoirs, true adventure titles, Christian, clean reads, and women of the west. There is also a Christmas display plus many Christmas and Hanukkah books for children. Cash and checks will be accepted along with credit cards for purchases over $10. The mission of the Friends is to promote and support public resources and community programs at the Ripon Public Library and proceeds from the sale are used to support this mission. In the past year the Friends have assisted with funding the digital hoopla service, summer reading programs for all ages, monthly take and make kits, support of the renovation project, and more.

Ripon, WI- Ripon Public Library is excited to announce its November lineup of special events for all ages! Thanks to funding from the Friends of the library, events and special offerings are always free. Registration is not required unless noted.
Celebrate Kindness Lantern Walk | Saturday November 12 @ 5:30-7:00 PM | All Ages Event
Come, “Be the Light” at this outdoor celebration of community, kindness, and the human spirit!
Enjoy a campfire, cookies, warm beverages, a lantern-lit walk on the Northwest Trail, and an amazing glow-in-the-dark rock art project with artist Carissa Sorensen. (Many thanks to Integrity Lawn Service and Supply for donating the rocks!) Dress for the weather and bring your own chairs or blankets.
Get Ready! Beginning November 1 Carissa’s original “Be the Light” artwork will fill one window in the library’s front entry. Visitors are invited to post inspirational messages here before and during the event. This an opportunity to celebrate Ripon and the many people who make it great by working for and focusing on the good no matter how small the gesture.
Inclement Weather Plan Rain or a windchill factored temperature at or below 20 degrees Fahrenheit will force the event indoors. As the day approaches please check for updates on our website or social media platforms.
Boardgame Bonanza | Wednesday, November 16 @ 6:00 PM | Adult
Games, Games, Games! There will be a variety of board games available to play. No need to know how to play them ahead of time, staff will be on hand to teach games!
Pinterest Craft Club: Button Art | Thursday, November 17 @ 6:00 PM | Adult
Pinterest Craft Club is getting crafty with buttons this month! Crafter will make unique button art in frames! All supplies needed for the craft will be provided. Registration required. Please call or visit the library to register. *Please note event date has been shift usual schedule due to Thanksgiving holiday.
Teen VR Game Day | Saturday November 19 Drop-in 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM| Teen
Ever wanted to jump into the virtual world of a game? It’s possible at the Teen VR Game Day! Play awesome, immersive games on an Oculus VR headset. Snacks will also be provided! Registration and waiver signed by a parent or guardian is required. Participants may call the library at 920-748-6160 to register, and the required waiver must be filled out in-person at the front desk prior to participation.
Ongoing Programs
Romper Room
Physical activity and human connections are important for healthy, happy human beings, and the Romper Room facilitates both! Focusing on active play the room features a trike & trailer, foot-to-floor vehicles, a balance bike, tunnels, tumbling mats, balance beams, and more. The Romper Room is most engaging for ages 2-6 years, though older kids are welcome. The Romper Room is always open during regular library hours. Drop-ins are welcome, though reserving a specific play time with family and friends assures availability.
Monday Matinees
Every Monday at 2:00 p.m. enjoy a newly released or classic film on the big screen. For movie title and rating call the library or check the website.

Black Hawk Folk Society Presents Crystal River Trio
Crystal River TrioBlack Hawk Folk Society proudly presents Crystal River Trio in concert Saturday, November 12. The trio will take the Mountain View Community Center stage at 7 p.m. Once they do, be ready to enjoy an evening of Irish ballads, sea shanties, folk, oldies, and more all woven together with humor, trivia and random facts, and maybe a reply to a comment or request from the audience!Gary Arndt, Peter Bartman, and Jay Smuddle make up the trio and have been performing together for thirty plus years. These self-taught musicians have mastered a dozen or more acoustic instruments, and have shared stages with Judy Collins, The Kingston Trio, and other talented musicians. Their performances bring joy to folk festivals–large and small, coffee houses and pubs, as well as house concerts.Gary Arndt co-founded the trio in 1981, inspired by the Clancy Brothers, The Kingston Trio, and Peter, Paul, and Mary. That kind of music “is and always will be a very important and driving force” for us on and off the stage, Arndt has observed. Music continues to inspire the threesome, while they are strongly bonded by their friendship. Black Hawk Folk Society Fall Into Winter Concert Series-The Crystal River Trio
Black Hawk Folk Society announced its Second Saturday “fall into winter” concert series.Mark your calendars for The Crystal River Trio’s performance at Mountain View on Saturday, November 12, 7 p.m. Gary Arndt, Peter Bartman, and Jay Smudde make up the trio. These talented musicians have been performing together since 1987. Their repertoire includes more than three hundred tunes—Irish ballads, calypso, sea shanties, folk, oldies, you name it. And yes, they take requests from the audience! Fun fact, their name is inspired by the beautiful Crystal River that flows through Waupaca. Small Potatoes, a Chicago-based folk duo consisting of Jacquie Manning and Rich Prezioso, will delight December’s virtual audience.
