We will be having our 11th annual recycle days event at 3260 Walter Street in Oshkosh. We will take all makes and models of major appliances from 9am-5pm on Friday May 12th and from 9am-3pm on Saturday May 13th at NO CHARGE! We will take refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, icemakers, air conditioners, microwaves, disposers, lawnmowers, tractors, tillers, snow blowers, or any metal products and batteries. We also accept computer hard drives, cases and printers- NO monitors or televisions. All freon and oils will be removed and properly disposed of according to state and federal mandates.
This is a community service we do to keep old products and appliances out of peoples yards and homes in an effort to help the environment and the neighborhoods. Recycling helps clean up yards and keep kids safe. We also recycle those pesky appliances with freon, that if not recycled and dealt with properly will have lasting negative effects on the ozone. Old appliances can become safety hazards if left out and just take up space. We strongly encourage everyone to bring those appliances down to be recycled to help clean up our community for a better place to live and a safer place for our children to play and grow.
Embrace your inner child during a night of after-hours fun on Friday, May 12th at 6 P.M. at the Ripon Public Library. The Watershed of Green Lake is a wonderful boundary to ride. Bright green hills frame the farmland, fields, forests and prairie grassland. We have some sharp steep hills on the south and east of the lake which are the barriers to trap in the water we call Green Lake. Green Lake is the deepest natural inland lake in the State of Wisconsin with a maximum depth of 236 feet and we are here to celebrate the beauty and land with which it is fed.
The longest loop (77 miles) of the ride will closely follow the watershed showing you where the water to fill the deepest lake in Wisconsin comes from. The mid length ride, nearly 50 miles, follows the same path along the south and west side of the lake but will cut off on Prairie Road then take you for a hair raising ride down Skunk Hollow Road, the rest hill is the steepest but we ask one you do not fly down. The shortest of the routes is 22 miles and will take you on a reasonably flat route out along Huckleberry Road, to a rest stop in Princeton and back to Green Lake on Hwy J.
The Green Lake 100 is neither a race nor a test of stamina (well, maybe stamina). It is intended all participants ride at their own pace and in a safe and responsible manner. You may choose to ride any of our four course lengths after registration: 22, 44, 77 or 100 mile courses. All rides start and end at Deacon Mills park by the Wharf. When you end your ride you can choose to continue around Green Lake and follow our “Loop the Lake” route. This is additional 23-26 mile ride which will take you around the lake, the closest routes and view of the Lake. There is a half way rest stop at Reilly’s pub where you can get some water or a few beers on your way.
Rest stops will be loaded with good eats, plenty of water and sports drinks. They are spread out approximately every 20 miles and will be listed on the map presented at registration.
There is no designated mass start time for the riders. Instead, riders need to plan to depart as early as 7:00 am (sunrise) and no later than 10:00 am on the day of the ride, depending on their anticipated pace and planned distance. In order to ensure participants reach rest stops during operating hours, please depart during the specified window. Slower riders and those planning to ride the longer routes with multiple stops should depart earlier in the day.
Routes will be marked and support vehicles will be available to assist riders. Rest stops with food, beverages, and support are spaced throughout each route. A classic Italian dinner picnic, that includes New Belgium beer or soda, is provided after the ride. Each rider receives a free dinner with their ride registration. Your friends and family are welcomed to meet up with you after your ride, and they can purchase the picnic tickets without riding.
