Thrasher Reaches Out Program Will Visit Area Locations
Green Lake, Wis. (September 26, 2023) – Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake, Wisconsin, proudly presents the “Thrasher Reaches Out” program. This initiative aims to bring the transformative power of music to members of area communities who may not be able to attend a show at Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake. Music has the unique ability to inspire, uplift, and connect people from all walks of life. Recognizing this, Thrasher Opera House is committed to making music and cultural enrichment accessible to everyone.
The Thrasher Reaches Out program will feature Ripon College student and musician Peter Lowenstein. Peter Loewenstein is a 20-year-old student musician hailing from Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He attends Ripon College, majoring in music and with minors in environmental studies and philosophy. Beginning his musical studies at age 5, he studied extensively on the guitar, piano, and voice. Now, he plays and sings folk/pop covers and plays classical music on the guitar. He began playing guitar in the second semester of his first year and has played classical guitar for a year and a half. Peter Loewenstein plays composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Agustin Barrios Mangore, Matteo Carcassi, Francisco Tarrega, Dionisio Aguado, and Fernando Sor. He teaches privately in Oshkosh and Ripon. Lowenstein says, “Music is the lifeblood of civilization; do not underestimate the power of music to bring about transformative change.” Lowenstein will host an artist reception and concert at Thrasher Opera House on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 7:00 p.m.
Thrasher is proud to partner with local organizations to make the Thrasher Reaches Out program a reality. This series of events will occur at several locations during the fall, including the Ripon Senior Center, Russell Manor, Diverse Options, Kindred Hearts, Markesan Resident Home, and Prairie Place. This opportunity is supported by the 2023 Party for the Arts donors. Thrasher Opera House Executive Director Rachael Avery stated, “Music has the potential to transform lives and communities. Through our Thrasher Reaches Out Program, we aim to entertain individuals with the gift of music, create and rekindle memories, and build stronger, more connected communities.”
Thrasher Opera House’s mission is to promote the arts and the power of live performance, provide a community gathering place, and preserve the historic Thrasher Opera House—a charming, intimate, friendly venue with excellent acoustics. Built-in 1910, restored in 1997, and on the National Register of Historic Places. Seats 200. For more information, please visit www.thrasheroperahouse.com
