    MAY is Blooming with Free Library Specials!

     

    Ripon, WI- Ripon Public Library is excited to announce its MAY lineup of events and offerings for all ages! Thanks to funding from the Friends of the library, programming is always free. Registration is not required unless noted.

    APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS | BEGINNING MAY 1 | All Ages Take and Make

    April showers bring May flowers! Just in time for Mother’s Day, enjoy this beautifully simple felt flower craft. Add a magnet to use it as refrigerator decoration or use a lapel pin to transform it into a wearable accessory.

    ADULT GAME NIGHT | WED MAY 17 @ 6:00 PM

    Calling all strategists, team players, and those who like to test their luck—enjoy an evening of tabletop board games! Staff will be on hand to teach and guide players through a variety of entertaining and easy-to-learn games with no experience necessary. This month will feature tile laying games like Carcassonne, Cascadia and Dragon Castle. Carcassonne takes place in southern France and introduces cities, knights, farmers, abbots and meeples! Join us for fun and games on Wednesday, May 17th from 6-8PM.

     

    PINTEREST CRAFT CLUB: ROCK PHOTO HOLDER | THU MAY 25 @ 6-7:30 PM | Ages 16+

    Paint a rock and then make it a special keepsake by making it into a photo holder! What better way to connect the great outdoors with special memories. Keep it or give it away as a gift! Join us on Thursday, May 25th from 6:00-7:30 PM. Registration required*

     

    Ongoing Programs

     

    ROMPER ROOM

    Physical activity and human connections are important for healthy, happy human beings, and the Romper Room facilitates both! Focusing on active play, the room features a trike and trailer, foot-to-floor vehicles, a balance bike, tunnels, tumbling mats, balance beams, and more. The Romper Room is most engaging for ages 2-6 years, though older kids are welcome. The Romper Room is always open during regular library hours. Drop-ins are welcome or call the library to reserve a specific play time with family and friends.

     

    MONDAY MOVIES | 10 AM & 2 PM

    Every Monday at 10 am and 2 p.m. enjoy a newly released or classic film on the big screen. Popcorn is served. For movie title and rating call the library or check the website. May is comic book month! We will be featuring movies of some of your favorite and tiniest characters!

     

    MONTHLY BOOK DISCUSSION |MON MAY 22 @ 6:30 PM | Adults

    Join the Friends of the Library book discussion of Gift From the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, on Monday May 22nd at 6:30 PM! “A mother of five and professional writer, she casts an unsentimental eye at the trappings of modern life that threaten to overwhelm us—the timesaving gadgets that complicate our lives, the

    overcommitments that take us from our families.”—Amazon. Copies of the book are available to check out at the library, about two weeks in advance, while supplies last.

    FLOWER POWER! | SAT MAY 13 @ 10 AM & WED MAY 17 @ 6:15 PM | Kids & Caregiver

    Celebrate the beauty and benefit of flowers! Families with children of all ages enjoy a flower and dirt themed program of music, stories, and dance. After the program everyone gets involved in beautifying the library entrance with colorful, pollinator-supporting flowers!

     

    Every child may plant a flower at the library and receive their own pot with seeds and soil to take home. Dress for the mess. Thank you, Girl Scout Troop 2570, for your partnership on this project!

    Thrasher Opera House to Host Season Release Party on May 18

    Green Lake, Wis. (April 17, 2023) – Thrasher Opera House is excited to release our newest season of
    performers. To celebrate, we will be hosting a Season Release Party on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from
    5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thrasher Opera House, 506 Mill St., Green Lake.

    The Season Release Party will feature a variety of exciting activities and experiences, including:
    • Food vendors, including Adams Rib & Murphy’s on Green
    • Our full bar and specialty beverages
    • Live Music from the Jerky Knees
    • Summer/Fall Season Release
    • Shout Out videos from upcoming artists and performers
    • History of Thrasher Opera House
    • Ticket & Merchandise Sales

    “We are thrilled to share with our fans the upcoming Summer/Fall season for Thrasher at the Season
