Stepping On
Event Name: Stepping On Event Location: Berlin Public Library Event Date: 09/12/2022 through 10/24/2022 Start & End Time: 2-4pm Event Details: One in four older adults has a fall each year according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Wisconsin leads the nation in fall-related deaths for people age 60 and older. But the good news is that falls are not a normal part of aging and can be prevented. The newly updated Stepping On program, offered through the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) serving Adams, Green Lake, and Waushara Counties has been researched and proven to reduce falls by 50%. The next workshop will start on Monday, September 12 & run every Monday until October 24, 2022 from 2-4pm at the Berlin Public Library, 121 W. Park Ave, Berlin. In just 7 weekly, 2-hour sessions, Stepping On gives participants strategies for avoiding falls including balance and strength exercises, home safety check suggestions, medication review, and more. Guest experts including a physical therapist, a pharmacist and others visit over the course of the seven sessions providing falls prevention information and strategies for avoiding a fall. The workshop is designed specifically for people who age 60 or older and have fallen and have a fear of falling. Participants can expect to leave with more strength, better balance, and a feeling of confidence and independence.
How to get more details (Website/Phone Number): To register for Stepping On, call Amanda Kutcher with ADRC at (920) 787-6666 or toll-free at 1-877-883-5378. - 13September 13, 2022No events
