Waushara County Community Vaccine Clinics Offered for Ages 5 and Up

    December 7, 2021

Waushara County Community Vaccine Clinics Offered for Ages 5 and Up

The Waushara County Health Department and Family Health La Clinica community health center, in partnership with Waushara County schools, will be holding several upcoming walk-in community vaccine clinics to help vaccinate the public against COVID-19. Children aged 5 to 11 are now able to receive the 2-dose Pfizer pediatric vaccine series. Vaccines are provided at no cost and no appointment is needed.

The next Saturday vaccine clinic will take place at Parkside School, located at 300 16th Avenue in Wautoma, on November 13th from 9am to noon. All COVID-19 vaccine types and doses will be offered on this date, including booster shots. The 2-dose Pfizer vaccine series will be available for all aged 5 and up, the 2-dose Moderna vaccine for ages 18 and up, and the 1-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine for all aged 18 and up.

If you already had your COVID-19 vaccine and would like to get a booster shot, you can choose any COVID-19 vaccine type for your booster. It does not need to be the same type as your initial dose(s). It must be at least 6 months since you completed your initial Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series and at least 2 months since you received your Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

To help vaccinate children aged 5 to 11, additional vaccine clinics at each Waushara County school district are planned. These vaccine clinics are also open to the community and both children and adults can be vaccinated. However, these school-based clinic dates will offer the Pfizer vaccine only. Each location will have two dates set 21 days apart to plan for both first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine series. Only one dose is needed for those coming for a booster shot.

The public is encouraged to choose the location that is most convenient for them. All clinic dates below are scheduled from 4-7PM. All doses of the Pfizer vaccine for ages 5 and up will be offered at no cost.

    • Wautoma High School, 514 S Cambridge Street: Wednesday, November 10th and Wednesday, December 1st from 4-7PM.
    • Tri-County School, 409 S West Street in Plainfield: Tuesday, November 16th and Tuesday, December 7th from 4-7PM.
    • Wild Rose Elementary, 825 Mount Morris Street: Wednesday, November 17th and Wednesday, December 8th from 4-7PM.

If you would like to schedule a no-cost COVID-19 vaccine or booster shot for those aged 5 and up, you can do so by calling Family Health La Clinica at 1-800-942-5330. There you can receive any dose of the Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccine. To schedule a Moderna COVID vaccine or booster, call the Waushara County Health Department at 920-787-6590. To locate vaccine types near you, visit www.vaccines.gov.

Ripon, Stoughton Public Library Directors Receive WLA President’s Volunteer Awards

(Madison, Wisconsin) The Wisconsin Library Association (WLA) has announced Desiree Bongers, Director of the Ripon Public Library, and Jim Ramsey, Director of the Stoughton Public Library, as recipients of the 2021 President’s Volunteer Award.  This annual recognition is bestowed by the WLA Board President to association members who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service. Bongers and Ramsey were honored during the WLA Annual Conference in Green Bay last month.

“WLA is a stronger, more impactful organization because of the efforts of volunteer leaders who are willing to share their time and talents for the good of the association and the library community overall, “ said WLA President Sherry Machones. “It was a challenge to select just two award recipients from among such a strong pool of candidates! However, Desiree and Jim have each given of their time and professional expertise so selflessly, they both quickly rose to the top of the list this year. Their commitment to WLA is an inspiration, and I am proud to work with them.”

Bongers has served the association in various leadership roles since 2005, including her current role as Board Secretary. A long-time member of the Annual Conference Planning Committee, Bongers stepped into the role of Conference Chair in 2021. Machones cited Bongers’ long history of service to the association, along with her ability to meet the challenge of planning the association’s first in-person event since the global pandemic, among the many reasons Bongers was selected for the award.

In recognizing Ramsey, Machones praised his professionalism as volunteer scheduler for the association’s annual Legislative Day event. Since 2017, Ramsey has coordinated appointments between 132 legislators and more than 100 of their constituents representing public libraries throughout the state. According to Machones, this complex effort was made an even greater challenge in 2021 when the COVID-19 pandemic forced WLA to move the event to a virtual platform.
