Skerryvore Returns to Green Lake to Play Two Shows at Thrasher Opera House

Green Lake, Wis. (February 24, 2025) – Scottish band Skerryvore will perform two shows at Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake, Wisconsin, on Thursday, April 03, and Friday, April 04 at 7:30 p.m. The Thursday performance will be a seated show, and the Friday performance will be a standing show. The band has a reputation for its energetic live performances, and they have played at numerous festivals and venues around the world. They have collaborated with other musicians and artists, including Sharon Shannon, Julie Fowlis, and Blazin’ Fiddles. In addition to their musical pursuits, Skerryvore is also involved in charitable work, and they have raised money for various organizations through their music.

Ripon Middle School proudly present, “Beauty and the Beast (Jr),” April 10-12 in the Ripon High School Auditorium.

Beauty and the Beast JR. tells the story of Belle, an adventurous young girl, and the Beast, her hideous captor who is actually a young prince trapped under a spell. In order to break the spell, the Beast must learn to love another and earn her love in return – before time runs out.  With the help of the castle’s enchanted staff, including a loving teapot, a charming candelabra, and a nervous mantel clock, Belle and the Beast find a beautiful friendship and love that neither knew was possible. Beauty and the Beast JR. features classic songs from the Academy Award®-winning film score such as “Be Our Guest” and “Belle,” as well as original songs from the 1994 Tony®-nominated Broadway musical.

Performances are Thursday, April 10 and Friday, April 11 at 7pm, and Saturday, April 12 at 2pm. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance starts. The performances will be in the Ripon High School Auditorium, 850 Tiger Drive.

Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 for Students and ages 5 and under are free.

There will be a bake sale and 50/50 raffle during intermission, to help support the Ripon Middle School drama program.

GRAMMY Nominated All-Woman String Band Della Mae at Thrasher Opera House

Green Lake, Wis. (March 03, 2025) – One of the most powerful live bands in bluegrass/Americana, Della Mae, will perform at Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake, Wisconsin, on Thursday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the show are $27.00 and available at www.thrasheroperahouse.com or by calling 920.294.4279.

Founding members Celia Woodsmith (lead vocalist/guitarist) and 2-time Grand National champion fiddle player Kimber Ludiker, along with guitarist Avril Smith, and two-time IBMA Bass Player of the Year Vickie Vaughn make up Della Mae. Reared in diverse musical styles, Della Mae is one of the most charismatic and engaging roots bands touring today. They have traveled to over thirty countries spreading peace and understanding through music. Their mission as a band is to highlight top female musicians, and to improve opportunities for women and girls through advocacy, mentorship, programming, and performance. Della Mae’s live show always includes covers by songwriters and artists they esteem as a playful treat.

Experience the British Invasion with The Brit Pack at Thrasher Opera House

Formed in 2011 by British session musicians based in NYC, The Brit Pack take their audience on a journey through a dynamic blend of British classics known and loved by all, including The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen, David Bowie, Elton John, The Who, Oasis, Radiohead, The Police, Amy Winehouse and many more. Ripon Area Community Theatre (RACT) will hold open auditions for An Inspector Calls by J.B. Priestley Monday and Tuesday, April 14 and 15 at 7:00 PM in the Congregational Church, 220 Ransom Street. Auditionees should use the north entrance adjacent to the parking lot and climb the stairs to the Fellowship Hall on the main floor. An elevator is available near the foot of the stairway.

The cast consists of a businessman, his wife and the inspector who are all “middle-aged” (between 40 to 60 years old), their two grown children (20s), the daughter’s fiancé (early 30s), and the maid (any age).  The family is celebrating the engagement of the young couple when an inspector arrives to inquire about their connections to a young woman who has recently died.  As he probes their familiarity with the deceased, greater and darker secrets unravel from the Birling tapestry.

The audition process will be reading aloud short scenes from the play with other auditionees for the director. No memorized monologues are required or expected. Please arrive by 7:00  PM so the auditions can start punctually. Copies of the script are available to read in-library (not for check-out) at the circulation desk of the Ripon Public Library.
