    Happy February from the Berlin Public Library! Read on to learn about events, programs, and services offered this month at the library. Some programs may require registration. Click below to view a complete list of February programs:

    Storytime

    Every Wednesday at 10 am

    Tiny Tots: Stories and Songs

    First Friday of each month at 10 am

    Lego Challenge Mondays

    Every other Monday from 3 – 5 pm

    For ages 6 – 11

    Wednesday Evening Book Club

    Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6 pm

    Friends of the Library

    4th Monday of the month at 5 pm

    Mystery Mondays Book Club

    Meets the last Monday of the month at 2 pm

    Stitching Together Group

    Knitting/crocheting/needlework group that meets the last Tuesday of the month at 2 pm

    Library News

    Winter Reading Challenge

    Until February 28

     

    We challenge patrons of all ages to read 1,000 minutes by February 28! All readers who complete the challenge will be entered into a grand prize drawing and will have overdue fees forgiven on their library accounts. Prize winners will get to choose a $25 gift card from a list of local establishments.

    Participate on the Beanstack Tracker App or visit our Beanstack site to get started. Don’t want to participate on Beanstack? Pick up a paper log at the library!

    Public Display Space Available

    Share your artwork or collections with your community! Individuals or nonprofit organizations are invited to reserve a month in our public display case or on our bulletin board to display objects and/or artwork. Displaying your items at the library is free! Set-up, take-down, and labeling of displays is the responsibility of the exhibitor. Prices of artwork may not be displayed, and the library will not facilitate sales of artwork. Call 920-361-5420 to get your exhibit on our calendar!

    Digitization Service: Preserve Your Memories

    February 17 – 28

    Do you have have old family videos, slides, or negatives you’d like to preserve in a digital format? The library will be offering a VHS to DVD (or USB drive) conversion service and a slide/film digitization service. The cost of the VHS conversion service is $3 per tape. Please call the library to sign up for the VHS conversion service in advance!

    10th Annual Quilt Show

    March 10 – 21

    The Berlin Public Library is now accepting submissions for our 10th Annual Quilt Show! This year’s theme is “Reach for the Stars.” All quilts will be part of a Viewer’s Choice Contest held March 10-15. All quilts are welcome! Call the library at 920-361-5420 to register your quilt or to get more information.

    Author Talk with Tammy Borden

    Saturday, February 8 at 10 am

     

    Come hear about Tammy’s mother’s compelling story as captured in the novel named after her, Waltraud: A True Story of Growing Up in Nazi Germany, and the unexpected author journey Tammy has been on as a result. Copies of Tammy’s book will be available for sale at the event. This event is free and open to all.

    Adult Craft Night – Mini Weaving Loom

    Tuesday, February 11 at 6 pm

    Make a mini wall hanging or a mug rug using just a cardboard loom and some yarn! Registration is required. Call 920-361-5420 to register.

    Friday Matinee – Wicked

    Friday, February 21 at 1 pm

     

    Join us for a free showing of Wicked (rated PG). Popcorn will be provided.

    Game Night

    Friday, February 21 from 6 – 9 pm

    Gather up your pals (or come solo to meet new ones) and join us after-hours at the library for board games and snacks! This event is for ages 16 and up. Bring a favorite board game to share or play one of the library’s many games! *Registration by February 19 is required.*

    Youth & Teen Programs

    If You Give a Grandparent a Cookie

    Wednesday, February 5 at 10 am

    February 5 is World Read Aloud Day! Come to the library for a special

    multigenerational / Valentine’s Storytime. Children can bring a grandparent or elder. Elders will read stories to the kids, and afterwards we will all decorate Valentine’s cookies together. This event is in partnership with Children’s Wisconsin.

    All Things Science!

    Saturday, February 15 from 2-4 pm

    Come play with our new science kits! The Library now has a Lego robot that needs your help to be built, a microscope to examine all sorts of specimens, rocks and minerals to identify, and strong magnets to manipulate! This program is brought to you by a Thrivent Grant

    Family Movie Night – Wicked

    Thursday, February 20 at 5 pm

    Bring your best pink or green outfits and join us for a free showing of Wicked (rated PG). Attendees will be entered into a drawing for a free DVD of Wicked. Free pizza will be provided!

    Teen Library Club

    Monday, February 17 at 4 pm

    Meet with other teens and create and run your own programs at the library! 6th-12th graders interested in joining should contact Makayla at youthservices@berlinlibrary.org

    • Sign-on Bonus: $5,000 (broken into thirds over 1st year of employment)
    • Operate equipment in a safe manner following DOT regulations and company
    policies and regulations.
    • Drive commercial vehicles to pick up and transport waste
    • Maintain paperwork including expense reports, timesheets, vehicle inspection
    reports, manifests, and job sheets.
    • Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
    • Secure cargo prior to and during transit
