We’re expecting Wanda the Wallaby, Bob the Tegu, Tallula the Fennec Fox, Mimi the Armadillo, Leon the Chameleon, Snowflake the Chinchilla, and Oliver the Kinkajou. Wonder at their habitats, lifestyles, and amazing adaptations. Occasionally animals get sick or may not be in a good mood, so animal substitutions can happen.

Located just 1.5 hours from Milwaukee, the Schoolhouse is a testament to Ripon’s role as the birthplace of the Republican Party, founded here 170 years ago.
From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Little White Schoolhouse opens its doors daily from 10am to 4pm, with extended hours until 5pm from July 12th to July 21st. Visitors can explore this iconic building and immerse themselves in the story of how concerned citizens gathered here in 1854 to form a new political movement that would shape the course of American history.
For those unable to visit Ripon, the excitement continues with a special addition to the Convention Fest area: a meticulously crafted replica of the Little White Schoolhouse. Constructed by Ripon High School students at ⅓ scale, this replica serves as a centerpiece in parades and city events. It’s an opportunity for convention attendees and visitors alike to learn about Ripon’s pivotal role in American politics, conveniently located right at the heart of the convention activities.
Mandy Kimes, Executive Director of the Ripon Chamber of Commerce, expressed enthusiasm about showcasing Ripon’s unique history: “We are so excited to have a way to showcase the incredible history that took place here in Ripon 170 years ago. This is Ripon’s unique history and contribution to the development of our nation.”

American Legion post 234 of Omro Is putting on a Pancake Breakfast On July fourth from 7 AM to 11 AM bring your self or your family and enjoy Pancake and sausage, Orange juice, milk and coffee. Every one is welcome come one come all and watch the Parade after breakfast.
The Ripon Noon Kiwanis is taking the community out to the ballgame this Fourth of July, with their first Community Softball game; Thursday, July 4th on the Diedrich Agency Field/Diamond 1 at Murray Park. The game will be 16” slow-pitch softball, open to participants ages 12 and older; no gloves required (but allowed).
Registration starts at 5pm, the game will start at 6pm. Registration is $10 per player. Players may signup individually or note if they’re a signing-up with family or friends and the Kiwanis will place them on the same team.
Players may bring their own bats. Appropriate footwear is required (no sandals/flipflops or cleats) to avoid injury; and best sportsmanship expected of all players.
The Kiwanis will also be selling concessions during the game, serving up Sloppy Joes, Hotdogs and Popcorn.

The Marathon County Historical Society Vintage Game Night is now the First Friday of each month from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Woodson History Center (410 Mcindoe St. Wausau). We have 100’s of vintage games (past and present) to choose from and people can come and go as they please. You can even bring your own game to play. Hungry Hungry Hippos, Monopoly, Uno, Clue, card games, team games, children’s games and even the popular Chicken Nugget game! We’ve got something for everyone.
Upcoming dates are June 7th and July 5th. Vintage video game night returns in June sponsored by the Wisconsin Computer Club. We still pull our vintage board/card games, so people have that option too. As always free popcorn.

Mark Hayward has been a variety arts performer since 1990. He is a World Yo-yo Champion, a member of a World Champion Juggling Team, and a Spin Top Champion. Mark has traveled the world with a yo-yo on his finger (well, mostly in his pocket), and has made appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman (twice), The Late Late Show with James Corden, America’s Got Talent, and the NBC Nightly News (without committing a crime). Someday Mark hopes to perform for both the President and the King.

Artist Exhibit at Thrasher Opera House Features Chris Hess & Persaus Fryer
Green Lake, Wis. (July 09, 2024) – Green Lake’s historic Thrasher Opera House will host an exhibit through August 31, 2024. This exhibit can be viewed M-F 10-4; for after-hour visits, call 920.294.4279 to schedule a time.
Chris Hess – Glass Fusion Chris Hess hails from the Berlin Area, with deep roots in Big Green Lake where childhood memories were forged. Married with two adult children and the proud grandparent of three grandchildren. Art has always occupied a cherished corner of Chris’s heart, despite not identifying as a traditional artist. Preferring the label of a creative spirit, Chris enjoys repurposing materials in unconventional ways, currently focusing artistic efforts on clay and glass. Persaus Fryer is an aspiring 16-year-old artist from Montello WI with dreams of a career doing what she loves. Persaus uses mixed mediums to include mainly acrylic, pencil, marker, digital art, clay, and bone. She has a talent for turning her visualized artwork into physical form with profound creativity and gets inspired from a variety of places to create. As a toddler and young child, Persaus spent most of her days creating art in one form or another and her parents have encouraged her to continue pursuing her dreams and expanding on her many artistic talents. When she is not creating, you are likely to find her playing the electric guitar which she has taught herself to do, writing one of her many novels which are a work in progress, or simply walking through the woods collecting bones and other such items that are sure to become works of art one day.

Green Lake, Wis. (June 20, 2024) – The Starling Shakespeare Company will return to Green Lake’s Deacon Mills Park on Friday, July 12 at 6:00 p.m. for a FREE performance of *Henry IV*. The event is sponsored by Thrasher Opera House and is also supported by Steve’s Quality Painting and Washing, and Bloch’s Farm.
Shakespeare’s “Henry IV” is a historical play that follows the tumultuous reign of King Henry IV of England and the coming-of-age of his son, Prince Hal. The play is divided into two parts and juxtaposes the political machinations of the king, who struggles to maintain his throne amid rebellion and civil war, with the youthful exploits of Prince Hal. Hal, initially perceived as a wayward prince due to his association with the roguish Sir John Falstaff, ultimately matures and steps into his role as heir apparent. The narrative explores themes of honor, power, and redemption as Hal evolves from a prodigal son to a responsible leader, ready to inherit his father’s crown.
With only five actors, Starling’s shows are fast-paced, playful, and nimble interpretations of The Bard’s classic plays. At only 90 minutes, they’re perfect for a date night or an evening out with the family! Please bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on.

Chris Hess – Glass Fusion Chris Hess hails from the Berlin Area, with deep roots in Big Green Lake where childhood memories were forged. Married with two adult children and the proud grandparent of three grandchildren. Art has always occupied a cherished corner of Chris’s heart, despite not identifying as a traditional artist. Preferring the label of a creative spirit, Chris enjoys repurposing materials in unconventional ways, currently focusing artistic efforts on clay and glass. Representatives of Fond du Lac County, in partnership with the Ripon Noon and Early Bird Kiwanis Club are excited to announce the grand opening of the All-Inclusive Playground at Riggs County Park on Douglas Street.
On Saturday, July 13th, at 11am, the County and the Kiwanis Clubs will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new playground at Riggs Park, which features play equipment suitable for children of all abilities, with a poured, rubber safety surface. The playground is a new addition to Riggs Park, sitting adjacent to the Splash Pad; which was also a project of the Ripon Noon Kiwanis.
Representatives of the Fond du Lac County Parks Department and Ripon Kiwanis Clubs will be serving up free hotdogs and Ice Cream throughout the morning and while supplies last; and children will have the opportunity to make use of both the Splash Pad and Playground.
Ladies Auxiliary Amvets Post 13 in Redgranite, will be selling hotdogs on the second and fourth Saturday of the month in Redgranite at the Civic Center. Amvets Post 13 will fill in selling food on the Saturdays that the Auxiliary doesn’t sell. Chia Tia (a low impact exercise for mind and body to relax your body) is at 8 am every Saturday at Veterans Park in Redgranite.
Quarry Committee Brat Fry will be on Sunday July 14,2024 at the Redgranite Quarry from 11-2 pm .

Science and stories collide in this fresh STEM show! “Adventure of the Lost Treasure” is a fascinating learning experience powered by interactive stories and exciting hands-on science experiments. A professional scientist/actor guides audience members on a treasure-hunting adventure deep within the jungle. Along the way, there are volunteer opportunities to help the performer act out the tale and conduct science experiments. Events in the story launch exploration of exciting science concepts such as air pressure, energy transfer, physical versus chemical changes, and more. The entire audience gets involved in altering variables, making predictions, and comparing results!
