RACT is taking us back to the late 1950s

    14:00 -17:00
    August 13, 2023

The Ripon Area Community Theatre (RACT) is taking us back to the late 1950’s, with the jukebox celebratory musical, “A-Wop Bop A-Loo Bop,” by Mark Brymer and John Jacobson, August 11-13.

Rock & Roll is taking the airwaves by storm and Roberta “Ruby” Lester and her friends are spunky teenagers with dreams of making it big in the music business. But sometimes dreams don’t go as planned. When the local radio station announces that “Rock ‘n Roll has got to go”, the kids take a stand for the music they love.

Featuring such classics as, “Rock Around the Clock,” “Johnny B. Goode” and “Jailhouse Rock,” “A-Wop Bop A-Loo Bop” will make audiences want to dance in the seats.

Performances will be Friday August 11th, and Saturday August 12th at 7pm, and Sunday, August 13th at 2pm, in the Ripon High School Auditorium. Tickets are $10 at the door and can also be purchased in advance at: https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/75627.  Ages 12 and under are free.

“A-Wop Bop A-Loop Bop” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com

The Ripon Area Community Theatre is a sponsored program of the Ripon Noon Kiwanis. “A-Wop Bop A-Loo Bop,” has been co-sponsored by Dante and Jennifer Houston.

Storytime is on hiatus in August and resumes in September. Did you know kids in motion can listen and learn? Keep reading, singing, writing, and playing with young ones, even while they are on the move!

Events are at the Ripon Public Library, 120 Jefferson Street, except when an alternate location is listed. Visit the library’s website or follow Ripon Public Library on Facebook and Instagram for detailed information and the latest library news on programs and resources, or call a friendly librarian, 920-748-6160.
