Green Lake County Health and Human Services would like to invite you to take part in our upcoming 1st Senior Fair on September 14th from 11am to 1pm located downtown Green Lake at the Town Square. The goal of the event is to connect the Community to a variety of resources and services available in Green Lake County. Tables and space will be provided. We anticipate sending out 30 plus invites to variety of Vendors. We have a marketing plan in place, including partnering with local restaurants in the area to provide discounts that day to attendees, to make this event as successful as we can. With this being the 1st event, attendance numbers are unknown. Please RSVP by July 12th, 2023, if you would like us to reserve a table for you. Green Lake, Wis. (April 03, 2023) – Green Lake’s historic Thrasher Opera House Gallery will be featuring the works of local artist KC Stewart. The exhibit by Stewart is currently on display at the Thrasher Opera House Gallery and runs through June 30.

KC Stewart is a multi-media artist whose comfort zone throughout life has been art and nature. Although art has never been KC’s “day job,” it’s always been a part of life. Stewart’s art has taken several forms, from fiber art to bookbinding, painting, and jewelry. It has existed in the shadows as a hobby and occasionally as a side hustle. Stewart can now focus a little more on the love of painting and experimenting with blending styles and media. Her current work intends to combine art and nature, abstract and landscape, and a little fairy dust is thrown in for good measure. KC has incorporated actual nature in moss, mud, grass, and pine needles into some pieces and loves to experiment with adding the textures I find in nature and using them as structural elements on the canvas. The color palette is reminiscent of the earth, sky, and water. But most important of all has been relearning the element of play. She says, “I am a testament to the concept that it’s never too late to follow a dream. This has been one of mine.”

Thrasher Opera House’s mission is to promote the arts and the power of live performance, provide a community gathering place, and preserve the historic Thrasher Opera House—a charming, intimate, friendly venue with excellent acoustics. STORYTIME! SPRING THINGS | WEDNESDAYS MAY 3 & 10 @ 10 AM | Kids & Caregiver

Welcome to active learning and fun, where early literacy and STEM concepts come to life through stories, music, movement, and enrichment activities. It’s a happy place for kids and caregivers to learn and play. This 5-week session focuses on celebrating spring’s many delights. Ideas for keeping kids happy and active, even when spring is fickle and turns wet or cold, are included. Stay and Play in the Romper Room after Storytime. This active space allows kids to release their excess energy and advance their physical skills all while supporting social connections for adults and children.

Celebrate the beauty and benefit of flowers! Families with children of all ages enjoy a flower and dirt themed program of music, stories, and dance. After the program everyone gets involved in beautifying the library entrance with colorful, pollinator-supporting flowers!

Every child may plant a flower at the library and receive their own pot with seeds and soil to take home. Dress for the mess. Thank you, Girl Scout Troop 2570, for your partnership on this project!

ADULT GAME NIGHT | WED MAY 17 @ 6:00 PM

Calling all strategists, team players, and those who like to test their luck—enjoy an evening of tabletop board games! Staff will be on hand to teach and guide players through a variety of entertaining and easy-to-learn games with no experience necessary. This month will feature tile laying games like Carcassonne, Cascadia and Dragon Castle. Carcassonne takes place in southern France and introduces cities, knights, farmers, abbots and meeples! Join us for fun and games on Wednesday, May 17th from 6-8PM.

PINTEREST CRAFT CLUB: ROCK PHOTO HOLDER | THU MAY 25 @ 6-7:30 PM | Ages 16+

Paint a rock and then make it a special keepsake by making it into a photo holder! What better way to connect the great outdoors with special memories. Keep it or give it away as a gift! Join us on Thursday, May 25th from 6:00-7:30 PM. Registration required*

Ongoing Programs

ROMPER ROOM

Physical activity and human connections are important for healthy, happy human beings, and the Romper Room facilitates both! Focusing on active play, the room features a trike and trailer, foot-to-floor vehicles, a balance bike, tunnels, tumbling mats, balance beams, and more. The Romper Room is most engaging for ages 2-6 years, though older kids are welcome. The Romper Room is always open during regular library hours. Drop-ins are welcome or call the library to reserve a specific play time with family and friends.

MONDAY MOVIES | 10 AM & 2 PM

Every Monday at 10 am and 2 p.m. enjoy a newly released or classic film on the big screen. Popcorn is served. For movie title and rating call the library or check the website. May is comic book month! We will be featuring movies of some of your favorite and tiniest characters!

Thanks to Ripon area Girl Scout troop 2119, Ripon Public Library is excited to offer Letterboxing throughout the month of May!

Letterboxing is a globally enjoyed game, constructed as a passport-like stamping scavenger hunt.  To play locally, all ages are invited to visit the library to get started. In our version, gamers follow clues leading to envelopes hidden in the library. Each envelope contains a stamp and inkpad. Solve thirteen Girl-Scout-generated clues to stamp your passport thirteen times and win a prize!
