The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band Returns to Thrasher Opera House
Green Lake, Wis. (November 13, 2023) – Thrasher favorites The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band will return to play the historic Thrasher Opera House on Saturday, December 09 at 7:30 p.m. Three-time BMA nominees The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band are “the greatest front-porch blues band in the world”.
They are led by Reverend Peyton, who most consider being the premier finger picker playing today. He has earned a reputation as both a singularly compelling performer and a persuasive evangelist for the rootsy, country blues styles that captured his imagination early in life and inspired him and his band to make pilgrimages to Clarksdale, Mississippi, to study under such blues masters as T-Model Ford, Robert Belfour, and David “Honeyboy” Edwards. Their latest record, Dance Songs For Hard Times, went #1 on the Billboard, iTunes, and Sirius XM Blues Charts and was produced by Grammy winner Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton). Rolling Stone, Relix, Popmatters, Guitar World, American Songwriter, No Depression, Glide, Wide Open Country, Paste, American Blues Scene, and many more critically acclaim the record.
This event is supported in part by a grant from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Tickets for Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band performance on December 09 at 7:30 p.m. are $30 and available at www.thrasheroperahouse.com or by calling 920.294.4279

Marathon County Historical Society presents Vintage Game Night
Event Location:
Woodson History Center 410 Mcindoe Street Wausau WI 54403
Event Date:
12.21.2023
Start & End Time:
5:00-9:00 pm
Event Details:
The Marathon County Historical Society has a new batch of Vintage Game Night dates this Fall.
Our game night is the third Thursday of each month from 5-9 pm at the Woodson History Center (410 Mcindoe St. Wausau). We have 100’s of vintage games (past and present) that we put out and people can come and go as they please. We are introducing theme nights. Upcoming dates include September 21st, October 19th, November 16th and December 21st. September is pajama night. October is “All is Fall” and guests are encouraged to dress in costume. November is role-playing game night with D&D, Magic the Gathering and other games. December is vintage video game night again sponsored by the WI Computer Club and Evercon. We still pull our vintage board/card games so people have that option too.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with game night. They can earn volunteer hours just by playing games, helping with set-up and take down and making guests feel welcome and included. Please let Sheryl Del Conte know if you are interested in getting involved (sdelconte@marathoncountyhistory.org or 715-842-5750).
Ripon, WI- Ripon Public Library is excited to announce its December lineup of events and offerings for all ages! Thanks to the Friends of the Library and other generous donors, programming is always free.
