    A Hygge Afternoon

    Monday, January 23 from 4-6 pm

    Join us for a hygge afternoon at the library. Gather around a virtual fireplace, sip a warm drink, and listen to soothing music as you participate in a relaxing activity of your choice. Coloring sheets, puzzles, games, and crafts will be available. Bring your knitting or a book to read. No registration necessary.

    Crafternoon – Mini Winter Hat Garland

    beginning at 2 pm

    Join us for a low-key, stress-relieving, and self-led afternoon of crafting. Make a mini winter hat garland out of yarn and cardboard tubes. No registration necessary. Craft available until Jan. 28 or while supplies last.

    8th Annual Quilt Show

    Coming March 2023

    Attention quilters! Our 8th Annual Quilt Show is coming in March. This year’s theme is “Take Flight,” but any and all quilts are welcome! Watch for more details coming soon!

    Artists are welcome to pick up their artworks at the end of the month of January.

    Digitization Service: Preserve Your Memories

    Do you have have old family videos, slides, or negatives you’d like to preserve in a digital format? The library will be offering a VHS to DVD (or USB drive) conversion service and a slide/film digitization service from February 1-14. Cost of the service is $0.25 per DVD and $2.50 per flash drive. Please call the library to inquire about this service in advance!

    The Bookstore at Caramel Crisp is proud to welcome local author Keith Hellwig for an Author Chat on Thursday, January 26th .

    Keith Hellwig was born and raised in Omro, and now lives in Fond du Lac. Keith has been in law Enforcement for over 40 years, and has used this huge wealth of experience to inspire and inform his writing.

    Keith has worked in State and County Correctional facilities and is a certified Law Enforcement Officer. As a Police Officer he has worked as a Deputy Sheriff, rising to the rank of Lieutenant, and as a Patrol Officer. He retired in March of 2017 from Corrections with the rank of Captain. He continues to work as a Police Office for two rural departments and has received specialized training in hostage negotiations, hostage rescue and cell extractions. Keith has commanded both an institution SWAT team and a Sniper Team.

    Keith Hellwig is the author of three books related to Corrections and Police work, “No Place Like Home,” “ Morning Will Come,” and his latest, “In Their Own Words,” stories by and about Correctional Officer from around the world. His book, “Rural Route Wisconsin” is a collection of stories from Keith’s youth and “The Retirement Plan” is his first foray into total fiction.

    You can meet Keith and talk with him about his fascinating life and career in the Bookstore at Caramel Crisp on Thursday, January 26th from 5 to 6 pm. All of his books will be available for purchase – this is your chance to get copies signed by the author!
