Cookie Daze celebrates July 11, 1992 – the day Ripon baked the biggest cookie the world had ever seen. Filled with 3.8 million chocolate chips and measuring 34 feet in diameter, “Ripon accomplished something no one had ever done before,” according to the Ripon Commonwealth Press. Today’s Cookie Daze draws crowds of families readied for the annual “cookie drop!” The event will be held at Barlow Park on Saturday, August 3rd from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm.

Festivities will kickoff on Saturday at 5:00 pm with a mass, followed by Totally Neon (80’s Band) and dinner. The Green Lake County National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, August 6th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Deacon Mills Park in Green Lake. The National Night out is described as a “national effort between local communities to help promote community unity and a partnership in fighting crime together.”
This is a free event with fun for the whole family! There will be fire trucks, a bouncy house, a drone demo, a dunk tank, face painting, ambulances, squad cars, Sheriff Department K-9s, SWAT/CTU vehicles, DJ music, and games for kids! Melissa Ware, the Technology Director for the Wautoma Area School District, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer in March of 2018. She was given approximately two years to live, as her cancer is incurable. Since the diagnosis, she and her husband, Tim, have travelled to Madison every other week for treatments, all while she continues to work for the Wautoma Area School District.
Nuance Hair Design in Redgranite will be holding a Cut-A-Thon to benefit Melissa and her family on Saturday, August 10th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cost will be $10 per hair cut. They will be basic hair cuts with no shampoo or extra style. The event is first come, first serve.

Dine in or drive thru Culver’s in Wautoma on Monday, August 12th and support the V2020 Backpack Nutrition Program at no cost to you! Culver’s will donate 10% of sales to support the program and it’s efforts to fight childhood hunger in Waushara County.
The Vision 2020 Backpack Nutrition Program provides weekend meals to more than 200 qualifying students each week! Students who participate in the program carry weekend meals home in their backpacks each Friday. These student-friendly meals focus on nutrition. Students also receive coupons redeemable for items such as milk, eggs and bread. The Vision 2020 Backpack Nutrition Program will distribute more than 39,000 items of food to area students during the upcoming school year.
Donations raised at the benefit will be matched by the Lau and Bea Christensen Foundation!

The St. John’s Church Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 18th in the Princeton Open Air Pavilion, with dining beginning at 11:00 am. The meal will include a baked chicken and beef dinner with all the trimmings.
Music from the Tuba Dan Band will be from 11:30 am until 2:30 pm, with other activities held throughout the day as well. These activities include games, pony rides, a car show, bingo, an apron stand, face painting, as well as a burger stand and refreshments. There will also be a small raffle at 3:00 pm, a large raffle at 4:00 pm, a Grand Prize of $1000, and more!

The Market is described as “homegrown, handmade and organic,” as it “offers a festive atmosphere with the best in fresh-from-the-farm produce, meats and one-of-a-kind, handmade items from area artisans.” The Market at Town Square is held on Fridays from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the Green Lake Town Square Community Center, located at 492 Hill Street in Green Lake.

The Veterans of America Golf Classic will be held on Saturday, August 24th at Sondalle’s White Lake Country Club. You can sign up your foursome by calling (920) 295-6015. The cost is $55 per person and includes 18 holes of golf with cart, food, and prizes. There will be a shotgun start at 10:00 am, and it will be an 18 Hole Scramble.
