Blue Ribbon Kids Day Seeks Exhibitors
Planning is underway for Blue Ribbon Kid’s Day, a family fun and resource fair held in Waushara County each April during Child Abuse Prevention month. Blue Ribbon Kid’s Day will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at Parkside School in Wautoma.Blue Ribbon Kid’s Day attracts nearly 1000 parents, grandparents and children who learn and practice safety skills, discover area resources and enjoy a morning of free family focused fun. It is the largest free family event offered in Waushara County. Blue Ribbon Kid’s Day is a past Beyond the Blue Ribbon Award recipient, and has been recognized by the Children’s Trust Fund, Child Abuse Prevention Fund and Prevent Child Abuse Wisconsin.Organizations interested in providing an exhibit regarding parenting, safety, and other services that promote healthy families or offer a family activity are encouraged to apply. Join Jenni Borell, E-RYT, a certified integrative yoga for seniors instructor and certified essential low back program instructor, to learn how to release tension, increase range of motion and energize through this slow-paced, therapeutically-oriented class. This class is suited for all ages and abilities.
“Gentle Yoga” is scheduled for Mondays, January 8 to 29 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the RMC Wellness Center, 845 Parkside Street, Ripon. Individuals should bring a yoga mat to each class.

Stay tuned for Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Brenda Block’s upcoming Blue Zone Diets series at the Ripon Public Library. This series will explore the diets and lifestyles of those living in the Blue Zones – areas of the world where people are the healthiest and live the longest. People in these cultures often live to be 100 years and they remain healthy! Join us as we cover a different regional diet each month, Thursdays at 6:30 P.M. this winter and spring:

Coloma's 11th annual Chili Cook-off Souped-Up
Coloma is hosting its 11th annual Chili Cook-off Souped-Up on Saturday, January 27th at the Anna Follett Community Center. There are various soups to taste ($5) and if you are still hungry, there are three different soups (unlimited) to enjoy for $2 extra. This is a fundraiser for the Coloma Area Historical Society (CAHS) with the soup tasting, children’s games, and raffles. Festivities begin at 4:30 pm, voting (with quarters) ends at 6 pm and winners are announced about 6:15 pm.

Candles illuminate the path as participants make their way across the ice to Green Lake’s beautiful conservancy property, Sugar Island.Following a short hike, participants can warm up and chat with friends and neighbors in front of a roaring bonfire.GEAR TO BRING:Bring a cup or thermos for hot chocolate, a stick for roasting marshmallows, (hot chocolate and s’mores gear will be provided by the Green Team), and a flashlight for hiking. Snowshoes and also sleds for pulling children are also welcome.PARKING:Parking will be at Sunset County Park along CTH A in Green Lake, located next to the Green Lake Sailing School. From there, cross CTH A onto the frozen Silver Creek Inlet and follow the candlelit luminaries.NOTES:THIS EVENT IS WEATHER DEPENDENT.
