    October 1, 2022

Fairwater, Bonesteel highlighted at upcoming Cemetery Walk

The Fairwater community will celebrate its rich roots next month, thanks to a special event designed to highlight local history and remember those who came before.

During the afternoon of Saturday, October 1, a Cemetery Walk hosted by the Fairwater Historical Society will showcase the lives of several residents from Fairwater’s earlier days.

Tour participants can meet at 1 p.m. at the Fairwater Historical Society, located at 106 Main Street. From there, the group will board a bus that will stop first at the Fairwater Cemetery on Main Street. Interpreters will share highlights from the lives of past Fairwater citizens.

Then the tour will head on County Road A to stop at the Bonesteel Cemetery, a family cemetery from the 1800s which is located on private property. Society Vice President Dave Berndt will share information on how he refurbished the historic private cemetery.

No admission fee will be charged, but donations to the Fairwater Historical Society are appreciated. Donations can be given at the event, or mailed to Fairwater Historical Society, P.O. Box 154, Fairwater, WI 53931.
