  • Presentation of two iPads to local community member Sam
    All day
    April 1, 2025
Club presidents for both the Ripon Noon Kiwanis (Brian Reilly, Left) and Ripon Early Bird Kiwanis (Dave Schroeder, Right) recently presented two iPads to local community member Sam, who’s two children are on the Autism Spectrum.
As part of the Wisconsin Upper Michigan Kiwanis district Autism Project, Kiwanis Clubs donate iPads for families with Children on the spectrum; which the children can use as part of their development and communication using specialized apps that suit their particular needs.
The Autism Project has helped countless children grow and find their voice.
Children with Autism are showing tremendous improvement when interacting  with programs that support academic concepts, comprehension, and direction following. Visually supported iPad apps help motivate these students’ ability to follow a schedule, complete multi-step directions, and transition between activities and places. Apps on the iPad are mutually beneficial for parents, siblings and other caregivers.
Additional information about the Wisconsin Kiwanis Autism Project can be found at https://www.kiwanisautismproject.com/.
The Ripon Noon Kiwanis meets Tuesdays at Noon in the Ripon College PDR; and the Early Bird Kiwanis meets Wednesday Mornings at 7am currently at Ripon Family Restaurant.

  • BLUES LEGEND TINSLEY ELLIS AT THRASHER OPERA HOUSE
    19:30 -23:00
    April 25, 2025

BLUES LEGEND TINSLEY ELLIS AT THRASHER OPERA HOUSE

Green Lake, Wis. (March 17, 2025) – Blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter Tinsley Ellis, will perform music from his first-ever solo acoustic album, Naked Truth on Saturday, April 25th at 7:30 p.m. at Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Tickets for the show are $30 and available at www.thrasheroperahouse.com or by calling 920-294-4279.

Born in Atlanta in 1957 and raised in southern Florida, developed a passion for music early, picking up his first guitar at age seven after seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. Influenced by British Invasion bands like The Yardbirds and Cream, as well as Southern rockers like The Allman Brothers, he discovered the blues through their music. A pivotal moment came in 1972 when he saw B.B. King live from the front row and received a broken guitar string from the legend himself—a keepsake he still treasures. By his late teens, Ellis was an accomplished guitarist and moved to Atlanta, where he joined the Alley Cats before co-founding The Heartfixers in 1981. With the band becoming Atlanta’s premier blues act and releasing four albums, Ellis soon set out on a solo career.

This show is sponsored by the Victor F. Braun Foundation, and Mike & Aileen Ellis. This event is supported in part by grants from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, the Green Bay Packers Foundation, and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
