  • Sbowe performance at Thrasher Opera House

    December 8, 2022

    PRESS RELEASE
    Contact:  Jason Mansmith

Green Lake, Wis. (November 14, 2022) – Sbowe is the solo project of Rachel Icenogle, a versatile cellist and composer based in Calabria, Italy, with a mind for new and interesting sounds. Sbowe thrives in the scratchy, creaky, whirly sounds the cello can make, layering diverse musical textures in a lush groundwork for wild fables about insects and impressionistic stories about human batteries. In November 2022, Sbowe released a new EP called Morimus.  “…the two tracks here create massive, textural, exquisite movements that feel poetic as they feel intentional. It’s like we’re observing both the gorgeous and tense moments of nature unfold in real time, punctuated by a variety of cello sounds. Calm meets the storm with Sbowe’s Morimus.”

Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band Returns to Thrasher Opera House

Green Lake, Wis. (November 14, 2022) – Thrasher favorites Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band will return to play the historic Thrasher Opera House on Friday, December 09 at 7:30 p.m. Three-time BMA nominee’s The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band are “the greatest front-porch blues band in the world”.

They are led by Reverend Peyton, who most consider being the premier finger picker playing today. He has earned a reputation as both a singularly compelling performer and a persuasive evangelist for the rootsy, country blues styles that captured his imagination early in life and inspired him and his band to make pilgrimages to Clarksdale, Mississippi to study under such blues masters as T-Model Ford, Robert Belfour, and David “Honeyboy” Edwards. Their latest record Dance Songs For Hard Times went #1 on the Billboard, iTunes, and Sirius XM Blues Charts and was produced by Grammy winner Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton). The record is critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Relix, Popmatters, Guitar World, American Songwriter, No Depression, Glide, Wide Open Country, Paste, American Blues Scene, and many more.

Wisconsin author Emily Conrad writes about rock stars from a Christian world-view. Her goal is to entertain while exploring life’s relevant questions, such as those surrounding mental health, addiction, grief, and more.

Conrad first dreamed of becoming a novelist during middle school. She later studied creative writing at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Merging her love of story with her belief in Jesus, she draws ideas from biblical accounts when plotting her contemporary romances. Her debut novel, Justice, was published by Pelican Book Group in 2018. She ventured into independent publishing in 2021 with To Bring You Back, which kicked off the Rhythms of Redemption Romances. Elements throughout the series were inspired by the people and events of King David’s life.

To Believe in You, released in October, 2022, concludes the series with the story of Matt Visser, a famous bass guitarist who is one year into addiction recovery, and Lina Abbey, a rule-following heiress recovering from a painful betrayal. The connection between them grows, but finding love isn’t as simple as believing in each other. They must overcome their pasts before history repeats itself in all the worst ways.

Join Emily Conrad for an author chat at Caramel Crisp in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, from 5 – 6 PM on Tuesday, December 13th, to learn more about her publishing journey and the inspiration behind her series. Books will be available for purchase, and a time of question and answer will round out the evening.
