(November 14, 2022) – Sbowe is the solo project of Rachel Icenogle, a versatile cellist and composer based in Calabria, Italy, with a mind for new and interesting sounds. Sbowe thrives in the scratchy, creaky, whirly sounds the cello can make, layering diverse musical textures in a lush groundwork for wild fables about insects and impressionistic stories about human batteries. In November 2022, Sbowe released a new EP called Morimus. “…the two tracks here create massive, textural, exquisite movements that feel poetic as they feel intentional. It’s like we’re observing both the gorgeous and tense moments of nature unfold in real time, punctuated by a variety of cello sounds. Calm meets the storm with Sbowe’s Morimus.” -Ben Slowey, Breaking & Entering Milwaukee The 2022 Fall/Winter Season at Thrasher Opera House is sponsored by Better Homes and Garden Real Estate Special Properties. Their latest record Dance Songs For Hard Times went #1 on the Billboard, iTunes, and Sirius XM Blues Charts and was produced by Grammy winner Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton). Her goal is to entertain while exploring life’s relevant questions, such as those surrounding mental health, addiction, grief, and more. Conrad first dreamed of becoming a novelist during middle school. She later studied creative writing at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Merging her love of story with her belief in Jesus, she draws ideas from biblical accounts when plotting her contemporary romances. To Believe in You, released in October, 2022, concludes the series with the story of Matt Visser, a famous bass guitarist who is one year into addiction recovery, and Lina Abbey, a rule-following heiress recovering from a painful betrayal. The connection between them grows, but finding love isn’t as simple as believing in each other. They must overcome their pasts before history repeats itself in all the worst ways. Join Emily Conrad for an author chat at Caramel Crisp in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, from 5 – 6 PM on Tuesday, December 13th, to learn more about her publishing journey and the inspiration behind her series. Books will be available for purchase, and a time of question and answer will round out the evening.
