22 July 2019 News

A 74-year-old United Kingdom man was able to safely land a sea plane in a soybean field in the Town of Metomen when he lost power Sunday afternoon. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say Krikor Pyrford was flying from Lake Crystal, Minnesota to the EAA Sea Plane Base near Oshkosh when he lost power and safely landed the plane in a soybean field southwest of the State Highway 44/49 and County Highway KK intersection. An incorrectly installed gas cap resulted in the loss of engine power. The plane was removed and transported to Big Green Lake where it was able to resume its flight to Oshkosh. The plane belongs to Joel Mckinzie of Lake Crystal, Minnesota. The accident was reported at 2:42 pm
