Papers Filed For April Election

8 January 2020 News

Ripon Mayor’s Race

There will be a mayor’s race in Ripon in April. Incumbent Mayor Gary Will announced in October that after 10 years as Mayor he would not be seeking another term. Ripon City Clerk Ann Schommer tells us Doug Iverson and Ted Grant have filed papers to run for Mayor. Iverson is a local attorney and currently serves on the Ripon Common Council, but that term is up in April. Grant is a local business owner and serves on the Ripon Public Library’s board of directors and the board for the Business Improvement District.

One More Candidate Needed For Ripon School Board

The Ripon School Board will need one more person to step forward to serve on the board. Incumbents Josh Rieder and Tom Stellmacher have filed papers to run for another term. Meanwhile incumbent Amy Pollesch filed non-candidacy papers, which means an open seat unless someone runs as a write-in during the April election. If no one runs for that seat the board would have the option to appoint someone to it.

Three Races For FDL County Board

It looks like there will be three races for the Fond du Lac County Board in April. In District 5 Gary Miller will challenge incumbent Sarah Everson and in District 9 incumbent Joseph Koch is being challenged by former County Board Supervisor Tom Dornbrook. In District 16 incumbent Martin Schroeder is opposed by Brooke Hills. Only one incumbent filed non-candidacy papers. Judy Goldsmith represented the 25th District and served on the board for 16 years. Monica Walk, who currently serves on the Fond du Lac School Board, is running for that seat. Marty Farrell who is chairperson of the board and represents District 1 is seeking another term. He has served on the board the longest of any current members going on 24 years.
