Hometown Broadcasting Sports Friday 12/6/19

6 December 2019 Sports

The Packers continue to practice for Sunday’s home game with the (3-9) Washington Redskins. The (9-3) Packers want to keep winning for a top seed and keep post-season games running through Lambeau Field. Wide receiver Davante Adams.

Sunday’s game starts at noon with the pregame at 10:00 on 102.3, The Bug.

In the NBA tonight, the Milwaukee Bucks host the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers are 16-6 while the Bucks have won 13 straight games and are 19-3 and tied with the Lakers at 19-3 for the best record in the NBA.  Tipoff is at 7:30 at Fiserv Forum.

The Wisconsin Herd won its tenth straight game last night, defeating Maine 123-118

Wisconsin tied its season-high as seven Herd players scored in double figures. FrankMason led the way and tallied a team-high 25 points to go with seven rebounds and nine assists. For the third straight game, Jaylen Adams scored 20 or more points and posted a stat line of 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals, and Milwaukee Bucks assignee, Dragan Bender, totaled 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting.

Jemerrio Jones collected his third consecutive double-double and had 14 points and

13 rebounds, while Cameron Reynolds and Luke Maye registered 12 points apiece.

Rayjon Tucker pitched in with 10 points, four rebounds, five assists and a steal.

Trey Davis led all players and recorded a game-high 26 points and made five

three-pointers off the bench. Justin Bibbs collected 16 points in 33 minutes of

action, while Boston Celtics assignee, Vincent Poirier, contributed with a near

double-double and had 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Four players (Yante Maten, Bryce Brown, Tremont Waters, John Bohannon) had 13 points each, and Kaiser Gates added eight points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired catcher Omar Narváez from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for minor-league pitcher Adam Hill and a comp pick in the 2020 amateur draft. Narváez becomes Milwaukee’s replacement for Yasmani Grandal, who signed with the Chicago White Sox recently. Narváez was excellent at the plate in his one season with the Mariners, hitting 278 with 22 home runs and 55 RBIs in 132 games. He was expendable because of the depth Seattle has at the position. Tom Murphy emerged as a solid backup and contributor last season and will likely be backed up by Aaron Nola going into the season.

Jericole Hellems scored a career-high 23 points and North Carolina State beat Wisconsin 69-54 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.  Markell Johnson finished with 12 points and C.J. Bryce added 11 for N.C. State. Johnson beat the halftime buzzer with a 3-pointer from midcourt that started the 29-14 run that put the Wolfpack in control and helped them avenge last year’s 79-75 loss to the Badgers in Madison. Hellems set a career scoring high for the second straight game. His previous best of 17 points came last week in a loss to No. 16 Memphis.

The #8 Wisconsin Badgers (10-2) are gearing up for Saturday night’s Big Ten Championship game against #1 Ohio State (12-0) in Indianapolis. The Badgers will try to avenge a 38-7 loss to the Buckeyes on October 26th. The game starts tomorrow night at 7:00 and can be heard on AM1600/93.1FM, WRPN.
