Ripon Common Council Discusses American House
27 November 2019 News
The Ripon Common Council this week held discussions about the future of the former American House on Watson Street and a proposal from a Lego League team to turn it into a parking structure with a rooftop park. Alderperson Aaron Becker thought the Council should discuss it given the hard work the team put in for a presentation to the Council on November 13th. The 25-stall parking facility with $1 an hour parking would create about $30,000 a year in revenue for the city. But the city is still entertaining proposals for the property and getting estimates on how much it would cost to tear it down and if there are grants available to help pay for razing it. Mayor Gary Will says two different people have looked at the building in the past few weeks. He feels there still might be interest in the land the building sits on if not the building itself. The Council only discussed the site and did not take any action on it.
