Grant Would Help Ripon Business Expand

26 November 2019 News

A growing business in Ripon got some help from the city’s Common Council last night. The Council unanimously approved allowing Ernessi Organics LLC to apply for a Community Development Investment Grant through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. The city would act as pass through conduit for the business and would be held harmless if the venture would fail. Owner Bryan Ernest explained to the Council that they are in the process of purchasing the Market Fresh Grocery Store at 111 East Fond du Lac Street and if they are successful would move their indoor vertical farm in the bottom of Bluemke’s to that site. He says they would in effect become the largest vertical farm in the state. It would also mean the creation of eight new full-time jobs and 12 part-time jobs. Ernest says they reached their capacity at Bluemke’s in the past year.
