The Waupun Police Department recently recognized a teacher and her third grade class. A check was presented to Danielle Newton, which will allow the class at Rock River Intermediate School to buy books for the entire school year through the Scholastic Book Program. Newton was chosen for her 31 years of dedication to teaching in the community. Detective Brian O’Donovan says Officer Robert Williams spearheaded the effort. “One of our officers Robert Williams took donations from the officer to make sure that the classrooms, and I think he ended providing for two classrooms, that the young people would be able to have a book each week.” O’Donovan says the department has a family attitude and they show that by giving back to the community when they can.  Officer Brett Gerritsen accompanied Officer Williams for the check presentation.
