Update:

There was no foul play involved in a fire at 410 Joy Avenue in Ripon Monday morning. Ripon Area Fire District Chief Tim Saul says the probable cause was electrical. Ripon Police were already on the scene when firefighters arrived for what was reported as a garage fire. “We had heavy conditions showing throughout the entire eaves of the house and out of the garage. We had made an interior attack on the fire in the garage.” Saul says the interior of the garage and its contents, which included two vehicles, was a total loss. He estimates damage to the house at $70,000. The couple living in the home was able to get out safely thanks not to smoke detectors, but an alarm clock that went off about the time the fire was happening. The fire department was assisted at the scene by fire departments from Brandon/Fairwater, Fond du Lac, and Markesan. Ripon EMS also stood by at the scene.

The Ripon Fire Department responded to the home owned by Jim Beier. The blaze was inside the attached garage. They got help from fire departments from Brandon/Fairwater, Fond du Lac, and Markesan. No one was injured. Due to the closeness of the high school and middle school the school district delayed the start of classes there by two hours. Bruce Link did some live reports on 93.1 and 1600 from the scene.
