It’s a Silverwing, 5 by 9 foot in size, and was purchased on Amazon. Photos of it can be seen at the Sheriff’s Facebook page. Warrant Scam
Sheriff’s officials in Dodge County say they aren’t the ones calling people and pressuring them into making payments to avoid being arrested on a warrant or for missing jury duty. A caller claiming to be a “Major Walker”, a judge or other high ranking official is the one using the scare tactic. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says the scammers are going so far as to provide fake phone numbers, answer as the Sheriff’s Office, and even have voice mail. Schmidt says his department would never call and pressure someone into paying for a warrant over the phone.
United Way Funding Benefits Ripon Food Pantry
Ripon Food Pantry Director Amy Pollesch says funding from the Ripon Area United Way helps them provide healthy meals to those who might otherwise go hungry. She says funding from the United Way and partnering with Webster’s Marketplace helps to provide meals for about 400 families a month. “Buying fresh fruits and vegetables for these families typically comes on their Monday when they come to the food pantry where it is given to them for free. So partnering with the United Way and with Webster’s Grocery Store here in town just being incredibly generous also with what they do here in the community.” The pantry also supplied weekend snack packs to kids over the summer, which also benefitted hundreds of families. She says if they want to continue that program next summer they will need about $20,000 to do that.
