Boiled Water Notice Issued For Village Of Coloma

31 October 2019 News

Update:

A water main break that led to a boil water order in the Village of Coloma is fixed and water has been turned on. But Village Clerk Brenda Walker says the boil or bottled water order remains in effect until at least Tuesday. The DNR requires two separate samples of water to be tested 24 hours apart for possible contamination. The labs that do the testing weren’t open over the weekend. The boil order is only for water that will be consumed. The order doesn’t apply to washing dishes, clothes or showering.

The Village of Coloma in Waushara County has issued a boiled water or bottled water notice to residents. A water main broke on Highway 21 near the grade school Thursday. That lowered the water pressure in the distribution system, which increases the risk of contamination in drinking water. When that happens the DNR requires the issuing of a notice. Meaning residents should boil water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, food preparation or making ice. You can also use bottled water. The order will be lifted when testing determines the water is safe to use again.
