Green Lake Woman Successfully Appeals Liquor License Denial
A 32-year-old Green Lake woman won her appeal after her application for a liquor operating license was denied by the Ripon Common Council. Olivia Griseta appealed that denial this week to the Common Council. She told them she had reached a plea agreement with the Green Lake County District Attorney’s office over misdemeanor charges stemming from an incident with a former boyfriend. Griseta told them she had been a youth minister, involved in Big Brothers and Big Sisters and was a manager at Family Video in Ripon. She said what she was charged with was the result of a bad relationship and out of character for her. She also informed them that battery and obstruction charges were being dismissed and she would be found guilty of disorderly conduct. The Council approved her license on the condition that the plea agreement went through. Griseta was seeking the liquor operator’s license for her role as a manager at Ripon Shell. Mayor Gary Will said it was the first time in his 10 years as Mayor that someone had successfully appealed the denial of a liquor license.
FDL County Budget Hearing
Only one person spoke during the public hearing for the proposed Fond du Lac County 2020 Budget this week. Paul Kaestner is a scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 792. He made a pitch to the board to include more money in the budget for improvements at Shaginappi Park, which is adjacent to Columbia Park on the shores of Lake Winnebago. Over the years the scouts have used it for campouts and jamborees. Kaestner said it is a real jewel, but improvements to the Rotary Lodge such as indoor plumbing and flush toilets would draw more visitors and rentals for the county. He says the boy scouts usually do what they can to leave it a better place when they use it such as pick up trash other visitors have left behind. The County Board will approve the budget at their meeting next Tuesday.
