Horicon Man Facing Drug Charges In Washington County

A 41-year-old Horicon man is facing drug possession charges in Washington County after he was stopped for a traffic violation while using an employer’s vehicle. It happened Sunday night on Interstate 41 near State Highway 60. The man didn’t have a valid driver’s license and his employer didn’t give permission for him to use the vehicle. In the car the deputy also found a pipe, marijuana, and a heroin shooting kit with what appeared to be heroin in it. Tests are pending on the substance.

Campbellsport Man Says Motorcycle Crash Happened For Some Unknown Reason

Two Campbellsport men were arrested for allegedly driving their motorcycles while they were drunk in Washington County over the weekend. Deputies responded after a 31-year-old man crashed his motorcycle on County Highway D in the Town of Wayne. He has a pending drunken driving charge so this would be his second offense. His riding partner, a 42-year-old man, was arrested for his third drunken driving offense. The crash happened just before 6 pm Sunday night. Both men offered questionable excuses for what happened.

Catching Up On County Employee Pay Raises

Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel says retention and attraction of employees continues to be a concern. Buechel notes ACT 10 brought some limits on the revenue they have available to increase the pay of employees. He says that makes it rough because when it comes to employees they are competing with the private sector and other counties. “We have to compete one with the private sector, but many of our positions don’t happen in the private sector it is government only.  But with commute time to Winnebago County, to Green Lake County, Calumet County, Sheboygan County, Washington County they can go there and all of those counties pay more than we do.” Buechel says they are still catching up on what county employees are paid in the area so they included a 2.25 percent raise for employees in the 2020 County Budget.

Winter Street Parking Permits

The City of Ripon’s winter parking restrictions don’t go into effect until November 15th, but those who want to pick up Winter Street Parking Permits should apply soon. The permits are for residents in areas zoned R-1 and R-2 and are available at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall. Applications for the permit are available on the city’s website.  The permits allow the holder to park adjacent to their residence unless snow is in the forecast. Vehicles have to be moved when two inches or more of snow is expected.
