27 October 2019 News
A Romanian immigrant suspected of participating in the forging and cloning of 137 credit cards in Fond du Lac in June of last year has been sentenced to 6 years in prison and 6 years of probation. Thirty-seven-year-old Catalin Capanu was also ordered to pay over $20,000 in restitution when he was sentenced in Fond du Lac County court Friday. District Attorney Eric Toney says he hopes the sentencing will act as a deterrent to others that might seek to come to our country to participate in criminal enterprises. His co-conspirator 27-year-old Mihai-Alexandu Preda will be sentenced for similar crimes on December 2nd.
