Free Admission Now Offered At Ripon College Chamber Music Concerts

RIPON — New this year, concerts offered by Ripon College as part of the Chamber Music and Jazz at Ripon Series will be open free to members of the public. Charitable contributions to the Ripon College Friends of the Arts program are welcome and encouraged to support the continuation and development of experiential fine arts programming.

 

In this season’s first offering, Trio Karénine will perform Friday, Nov. 1. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Demmer Recital Hall, C.J. Rodman Center for the Arts.

 

The program will include Piano Trio in G Major, Hob. XV “Gypsy,” by Joseph Haydn; Piano Trio No. 2, Op. 66 in C Minor, by Felix Mendelssohn; and Piano Trio No. 4, Op. 90 “Dumky,” by Antonín Dvorák.

 

Trio performers are Paloma Kouider, piano, Fanny Robilliard, violin, and Louis Rodde, cello. Founded in Paris in 2009, Trio Karénine bears the name of Tolstoy’s beautiful and emotionally honest heroine. The trio is acclaimed by critics and audiences for its musical integrity and passionate interpretation.

 

Major honors include the top prize at the ARD International Competition in 2013; the prestigious Nordmetall-Ensemble Prize from the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele in 2015; first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in the Netherlands; the International Pro Musicis Prize in Paris; and the “Banque Populaire” grant. The trio is also a laureate of the Joseph Haydn Competition in Vienna, the Maurice Ravel Academy and the Charles Oulmont Foundation,

Trio Karénine performs in prestigious concert halls around the world.

 

In January 2019, Trio Karénine was appointed as an ensemble in residence at the Royal Northern College of Manchester where they conduct master classes and teach courses in chamber music.
