Drug Take Back Day Saturday
25 October 2019 News
More than 277 law enforcement agencies across the state will be participating in a Drug Take Back Day tomorrow. Residents are being urged to drop off unused and unwanted medications at drug drop boxes. Drug Free Communities of Fond du Lac County Coordinator Ellen Sorensen says there are 13 such boxes located across the county at police stations and hospitals in Fond du Lac, Ripon and Waupun. She says the drug drop box at the Ripon Police Department is open 24/7. “I should note Ripon Police Department has the only fully 24/7 365 box in the county because they do their own dispatching there and so that vestibule is always open.” According to an Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs survey, 53% of Fond du Lac County youth, in 8th, 10th, and 11th grade report obtaining prescription medications for misuse from their home or medicine cabinet or parents.
