A 54-year-old Rubicon man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and three years of probation for driving drunk, intimidating a victim and violating bond conditions multiple times. Earl Captain was sentenced in Dodge County court Monday. Prosecutors say in October of last year officers responded to a home where Captain was drunk, had hit a woman and pointed a firearm at her. He’d destroyed many things in the home and threatened to kill her if she called police. He was arrested and made bond. Less than two months later he showed up drunk at her home with a firearm. He was arrested and again made bond. A few months later he was stopped for his fifth operating while under the influence offense. He was arrested. This time his bond was revoked and was set at $100,000 cash. He has remained in jail since then. Dodge County Assistant District Attorney James Sempf says Captain demonstrated he was a threat to the community.
