The Packers return to the practice field today in preparation for the Monday night matchup at Lambeau Field with the Lions.  Green Bay is 4-1 while Detroit is 2-1-1.  Last year, the Packers won just one game against NFC North opponents and that was the season opener against the Chicago Bears. They’re already 2-0 in the division this year and currently atop the North heading into Monday’s game. The Packers haven’t won their first three division games since 2012. Meanwhile, Green Bay will see a familiar face on the opposing sidelines as former defensive lineman Mike Daniels is in his first year as a Lion. He was cut by Green Bay just before training camp started and was quickly signed by the Lions.

In Thursday Night Football, New England hosts the Giants.  The Patriots are 5-0 while the Giants are 2-3.

The National League Championship Series opponents are set.   Last night Howie Kendrick’s grand slam home run in the top of the 10th powered the Washington Nationals to a 7-3 upset victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The Nationals will face the Cardinals who pounded the Braves in Atlanta, 13-1.  St. Louis scored 10 runs in the first inning. The two teams meet Friday night in St. Louis.

The ALDS continues tonight as Houston hosts Tampa Bay in game five with the series tied at two games.  Right-hander Gerrit Cole starts for the Astros against Rays right-hander Tyler Glasnow. The winner plays the Yankees Saturday in the opening game of the ALCS.

The Milwaukee Bucks opened their preseason Wednesday night with a 133-99 romp over the Utah Jazz in Milwaukee.  Giannis Antetokounmpo paced the Bucks with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
