Domestic Violence Awareness Month Green Lake County Is Aware

10 October 2019 News

Green Lake County is on pace to record more domestic violence than average this year. Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Vande Kolk says in a typical year they have about 50 incidents across the county, but have more than forty already. “That number fluctuates a little bit from year-to-year, but generally right around 50. This year it looks like we are on pace to be a little bit higher than that. Thus far I believe we have about 41.” Green Lake County knows the high cost of domestic violence. Deputy Bruce Williams was shot to death responding to a domestic violence call in Green Lake 16 years ago this month. Last night a “Take Back the Night” event was held in Green Lake to make people more aware about domestic violence. This month is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
