Kohler Accident Victim Identified
Police in Kohler have identified the 36-year-old Sheboygan man that died after his pickup truck went off the road and hit a tree Saturday night. Zachary Diedrich was driving on Highland Drive south of State Highway 23 when his southbound pickup left the road, went over a curb and struck a tree. He died at the scene of the crash. Investigators believe speed and alcohol were factors in the accident. Diedrich was the sole occupant of the truck.
Grand Chute Death Investigation Continues
Police in Grand Chute now say the deaths of a 40-year-old man and 36-year-old woman in the 2000 block of West Roberts Avenue Monday were due to gunshot wounds. Officers were dispatched to the home for a welfare check shortly before 6 am. Both were found dead in a locked bedroom. There was a gun nearby. Police say it was an isolated incident and the public is not in danger. Names have not been released.
Clintonville Man Sentenced For Teen’s Sexual Assault
A Waupaca County judge this week sentenced a 36-year-old Clintonville man to 10-years in prison and eight years of extended supervision for sexually assaulting a teenage girl, holding her hostage in a motel room, and trying to ransom the girl to her mother. Elijah Kerrigan was facing a dozen charges for the incidents last January, but made a plea deal pleading to charges of child enticement with sexual contact, possession of child porn, and delivery of drugs to a minor. Nine other charges were read into the record and dismissed. The victim was a 15-year-old girl.
Mayville Man Charged With Reckless Homicide
A Mayville man suspected of 1st degree reckless homicide in the death of a Waupun woman made his initial appearance in Dodge County court Monday. Twenty-eight-year-old Timothy Sedlmeier was released on a $5,000 signature bond and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on November 14th. Nineteen-year-old Samantha Mattila died of an overdose on October 23rd of 2017. Sedlmeier told investigators he found her slumped over in a bathtub and believes she found heroin he had stashed in a drawer for himself. He admitted buying the heroin for himself, but claims he did not supply her with it. The reckless homicide charge carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison.
Two Sex Offenders Moving To Oshkosh
Oshkosh Police say two sex offenders are being released from prison and will be living at 1105 Jefferson Street starting next Tuesday. Fifty-eight-year-old Timothy Geise (pictured above) and 69-year-old Lloyd Pitzen (pictured below) will both be on electronic monitoring. Geise’s victims were 13 to 16-year-old boys he knew. He had convictions for sexual assault, child enticement, possessing child pornography and more. Pitzen’s convictions were for sexual assault, disorderly conduct, burglary, battery, drugs, and sex registry violations. His victims included a 15-year-old girl and three women. Both are currently being held at Racine Correctional.
Flu Vaccine Effectiveness
Fond du Lac County’s Public Health Officer says flu vaccine may not be 100 percent effective, but it will afford you protection to ward off the flu. Kim Mueller says last year’s most virulent strain of the flu was H3N2, which the vaccine did provide protection against. She says they hope this year’s vaccine will be as effective. “Hopefully it will be a good match or will be a good enough match where you get that vaccine it gives you a good amount of protection that would at least get you less sick and help you so you don’t spread that sickness from one person to the next.” More than 170 people in the county tested positive for the flu during the last influenza season. Flu vaccine clinics were held in Ripon and Rosendale last Friday.
Flood Emergency Declaration
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department imposed Slow No Wake orders for a couple of water bodies in the county following last week’s heavy rains. The orders are in effect for Little Lake Butte des Morts and The Fox River from the mouth of Little Lake Butte des Morts to the north county line. The Flood Emergency declaration will remain in effect until waters recede to non-threatening levels.
State Senator Dan Feyen Schedules Town Hall Meetings
State Senator Dan Feyen of Fond du Lac will be hosting town hall meetings in Omro and Eldorado during the upcoming weeks. Next Tuesday he will be at the Omro City Hall in the Council Chambers from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. The town hall meeting in Eldorado will be at the Town of Eldorado Community Center from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Tuesday, October 29th. Feyen represents the 18th State Senate District.
