The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the murder of a 35-year-old rural Poynette man. An autopsy was conducted by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office Sunday and as a result the death of Keith Wolf is being investigated as a homicide. He died of a gunshot wound Friday night at his home. Deputies were called to a home on Bradley Road in the Town of Leeds shortly before 9:30 Friday evening. Wolf’s wife told investigators they heard noises in the basement and her husband grabbed a gun and headed to the basement. She then heard a gunshot and when she looked down the basement stairs she saw her husband dead. Deputies found her and a small child hiding in another room in the home. They were escorted from the home and a search was conducted of the area, but no one was located. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone that saw anything suspicious in the area that night between 8 and 10 pm to give them a call.
