Those attending the Ripon Area Fire District’s 150th Anniversary celebration Saturday will get a real treat. A replica of the Squad 51 vehicle used by firefighter-paramedics John Gage and Roy Desoto in the 1970s TV series “Emergency!” will be included in the celebration. Fire District Chief Tim Saul says the series inspired a generation of firefighters and paramedics and their own squad was numbered after it. “I pulled some strings and we actually got a replica of that vehicle here for our anniversary. It’s pretty unique, pretty amazing. There will be something interesting for people who remember that show from the 70s and 80s to come and see that vehicle.” Following a 3 pm parade down Watson Street there will be family fun and activities at Barlow Park including animals for petting, bounce houses, activities, food and beverages a live performance by CAT5 from 4 to 7 pm and fireworks at dusk.
