Oshkosh Man Sentenced For Stabbing
The 24-year-old Oshkosh that slashed another man in the neck with a hunting knife last December has been sentenced to seven years in prison and five years of extended supervision. Winnebago County Judge Scott Woldt sentenced Dustin Rosenkranz Monday on first degree recklessly injury and aggravated battery charges. Rosenkranz got into an argument with the victim last December 1st and according to the criminal complaint slashed him in the neck. He claims the victim punched him first so he pushed back then punched the man before stabbing him.
FDL Area Teens Charged For Car Thefts
Seventeen-year-old Kaden Solano of North Fond du Lac and 18-year-old Tyler Rodgers of Fond du Lac have been charged for allegedly stealing a pickup truck from Beaver Dam and a car from Fond du Lac. They were arrested along with two other teens after a brief chase with Waupun Police late Saturday night. Plates on the truck came back as stolen, which was the catalyst for the chase. The other two teens were unaware the truck they were in was stolen and were released. Solano and Rogers made their initial appearances in Dodge County court Monday. Bond was set at $3,000 cash for Solano and $500 cash for Rodgers. The car stolen from Fond du Lac ended up in Beaver Dam Lake. Solano has a preliminary hearing on September 19th and Rodgers on October 24th. Information about their arrests was also shared with police departments in Fond du Lac and Beaver Dam.
FDL Man Makes Initial Appearance On Armed Robbery Charge
A 22-year-old Beaver Dam man facing armed robbery and second degree recklessly endangering safety charges is out on bond. Jordan Smack made his initial appearance on those charges and others in Fond du Lac County court Monday. He posted a $1,500 cash bond and has a preliminary hearing on October 18th. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department had posted a nationwide wanted request on its Facebook page last Friday for him and later cancelled it after he was found.
E Cigarette Warning
Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller is urging residents to stop using any type of electronic smoking device. She says no cases of lung illness have been confirmed in the county associated with vaping or the use of e-cigarette products. She notes as of last Friday there have been over 450 possible cases of lung illness associated with the use of e-cigarette products reported to CDC from 33 states. According to the CDC, five deaths have been confirmed in California, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Oregon. Patients have reported symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, or chest pain nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea fatigue, fever, or weight loss. The severity of the disease has varied, with some needing assistance to breathe. Mueller says anyone experiencing any of those symptoms should call their doctor immediately. Ripon College Panel Discussion On Nine Eleven
A panel discussion, “Memories of 9/11: Are We Still Divided?”, will be held this afternoon at Ripon College. The event is sponsored by the Center for Politics and the People and the League of Women Voters. It will run from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. in Kresge Little Theatre, East Hall, on the campus. The panel will be a discussion of memories of 9/11 and whether we are still divided over its meaning. Panelists will reflect on their personal experiences around 9/11, what they see to be its impact on community-building today in the United States and internationally, and how far our empathy extends in the aftermath of this tragedy.
Flags At Half Staff In Remembrance Of Nine Eleven
U.S. and Wisconsin State flags will be flown at half-staff today in honor of the State Day of Service and Remembrance and out of respect for the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11th, 2001. Governor Tony Evers issued an executive order Monday. Evers says, “On September 11, we reflect on our nation’s grit and resilience while working to honor the legacy of those we lost and the countless heroes who responded during our time of need.” Members of the governor’s administration and staff will be participating in service events throughout the day.
Little White Schoolhouse Has A Good Summer
Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jason Mansmith says the Little White Schoolhouse in Ripon has had a good year in terms of visitors. He says despite it being an off year for elections attendance was up at the Birthplace of the Republican Party. “We’ve had our busiest summer in the terms of guests that we’ve had in the last six years. We saw a 20 percent in admissions between 2015 and 2016 with the election and we are higher than that this year.” Mansmith says they are anticipating more growth in the next year with the elections. Always benefitting from donations the Little White Schoolhouse was the Cause of Mondays at Vines and Rushes Winery this past Monday.
