School Zone Safety Reminders

There aren’t many, but Ripon Police do have a couple of reminders when it comes to driving in school zones as kids return to school. School Resource Officer Bret Henning reminds residents they cannot use the Barlow Park Loop for dropping off their children at Barlow Park Elementary School. “Most of the parents know this from last year, but all the kid drop-off and pick up is now in the back parking lot of Barlow Park School. So basically through the city administration and such they closed off the Barlow Park for safety.” Also East Sullivan Street at Metomen Street is right turn only from 3 to 3:30 pm on school days. Henning also reminds drivers speed limits in school zones are 15 miles an hour when children are present, which will be strictly enforced.
