Waupun Men Suspected In Bank Robbery Charged

22 August 2019 News

Two Waupun men suspected of being involved in the robbery of the National Exchange Bank & Trust in Glenbeulah have been charged for the August 9th robbery. Justin Smith and William Balgie both made their initial appearances in Sheboygan County court this week. The 36-year-old Smith is facing armed robbery, cocaine possession and bail jumping charges. Balgie, who is 35-years-old, is charged with being party to the crime of armed robbery. Bond was set at $500,000 cash for Smith and $50,000 cash for Balgie. Both men had preliminary hearings yesterday. Washington County Sheriff’s deputies caught Smith and Balgie during a high-risk traffic stop the same day as the robbery. Washington County Sheriff’s investigators believe Smith may have been involved in the robbery of a National Exchange Bank & Trust branch in Allenton on April 8th and possibly figured in other robberies.
