21 August 2019 News
Winnebago County Coroner Barry Busby made it official Wednesday personally submitting his resignation letter to Sheriff John Matz who notified Governor Evers. Busby’s resignation takes effect October 31st. Governor Evers will appoint Busby’s successor. In the letter Busby said he chose the resignation date in honor of his mother’s birthday. He also said, “It was a pleasure working with and helping the citizens of Winnebago County the past 22 years.” Busby’s resignation comes in the wake of a censure from the County Board and accusations of sexual harassment and absenteeism from the job. He told the board Tuesday night that post-traumatic stress disorder has caused him to miss time at work. The board voted 29 to 1 to censure him.
