Lawsuit Filed Against Owners Of Menominee Nation Arena
The company that built the Menominee Nation Arena in Oshkosh is suing the corporate owner of the building for failing to pay their bills. The lawsuit contends Fox Valley Pro Basketball is in default on payment for the $21.5 million arena, owing more than $13 million. Reducing Youth Vaping Will Not Be Easy
The Tobacco Control and Prevention Coordinator for the Fond du Lac County Health Department says when it comes to vaping trying to put the genie back in the bottle won’t be easy. State and Federal Health officials are concerned about the rising number of respiratory cases being reported that are associated with the use of electronic cigarettes. Sandy Bernier says to cut down on use by youth they would have to take steps similar to what they did with tobacco products. “Get rid of some these candy flavors like all tobacco products to be put behind the counter that’s public health best practice. Whereas cigarettes can no longer be made in candy flavor other than Menthol they have to be all behind the counter including smokeless tobacco.” Bernier says it won’t be easy there are over 460 different brands of vaping devices and over 7,000 flavors.
Drunk Busters Of America Celebrates Twenty Fifth Anniversary
For a Brownsville man a longtime passion to prevent drunken driving has led to success. Curt Kindschuh recently celebrated the 25th Anniversary of his company Drunk Busters of America. It manufacturers goggles and pedal carts that allow its users to see what it is like to drive impaired without really being impaired. Kindschuh began as a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy who taught DARE classes and later was the State Director for Wisconsin’s MADD Chapter. He says the goggles began simply as a way to teach kids about the consequences of driving drunk. The goggles have since been sold in 120 countries. Kindschuh was in Croatia as a presenter at an international conference on driving about ten years ago. He says most people couldn’t understand what he was saying, but they got the idea when they saw how the goggles work. “Half of the people understood very little or no English whatsoever. Yet as I’m doing my demonstration you could see the light bulb going on like oh they get it. So whether we speak English, Spanish or German or whatever impairment is the same.” For more information about Drunk Busters of America visit their website drunkbusters.com.
