The Ripon Common Council tonight will consider what to with about $484,000 left to the city by the Lloyd Mitchell estate. The Park and Recreation Committee by a 4 to 0 vote is recommending the money be used to build the Grace and Lloyd Mitchell Pavilion at Murray Park. They also recommended holding back $10,000 of that for a future maintenance fund. The two-story pavilion and a new Senior Center/Community Center were the final two projects considered by the committee. Senior Center Executive Director Noreen Johnson says they are disappointed they won’t be getting that funding, but it would only have been a portion of what they needed for their project. She says the group promoting the pavilion project did a great job with their presentation. “To put in a new concession stand, its two stories they did a fabulous job, a design was made up, there were pictures and it was amazing. We will just wait and see how the Council actually votes.” The Council will discuss the committee’s recommendation when they meet tonight at 7 pm at the Ripon City Hall.
