A Dodge County Sheriff’s sergeant took pity on a domestic duck the sole survivor of a traffic mishap in which seven other ducks were run over by a motorist last week. Sergeant CJ Micale found a female duck he nicknamed Daisy Duck in a ditch along a county highway. She had a cut on her head and the top part of her beak was broken off. She was able to flap her wings and stand. Efforts to contact an owner for the ducks were fruitless. Sergeant Micale got permission to take Daisy to the Wildlife in Need Center in Waukesha County, a trip he and his daughter Cecelia made together. The center told them Daisy would be transferred to the Waukesha County Humane Society for assessment and treatment of her injuries.
